International Yoga Day 2025 LIVE: PM Modi says Yoga holds key to world peace as global conflicts rise
International Yoga Day 2025: It is the 11th edition of the global celebration, with this year's theme as 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', which the PM Modi announced on March 30 during his Mann Ki Baat'. To mark the International Day of Yoga on Saturday, India has organised thematic events and programmes in 1,300 cities featuring the nation's ancient tradition and soft power. PM Modi took part in celebrations in Vishakhapatnam.
The theme focusses on how yoga can promote mental tranquillity, physical well-being, and a sense of environmental responsibility in a world grappling with challenges such as climate change, pandemics, and lifestyle-related illnesses.
'The Guinness World Records title that starts today is the most people performing the cobra pose in yoga, simultaneously, we set a guideline that everyone had to do it for at least a minute each, and we set a minimum target of 250 participants. Today, they did it for more than a minute, they did it for two minutes and nine seconds, and the total was 2185. We had to discount 64 participants. So the confirmed title is 2121 participants. Given we set a minimum of 250, this is smashing the Guinness World Record. Congratulations to everyone involved, and it's a fantastic achievement,' ANI quoted Richard as saying.

Yog Guru Ramdev said, "Yog is in our DNA. It has become a mass movement. Prime Minister's vision of making India a developed country by 2047, its basis, its foundation, is yoga. I would appeal to everyone to pledge to do yoga not only on June 21, but every day for at least 10-20 minutes. Yoga should become a way of our life," ANI reported.
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini on June 21 said, "To reduce stress, we have announced a five-minute break in every office so that we can work again with new energy and strength... Everyone will implement this in the private sector as well," ANI reported.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta emphasised the need to clean the river Yamuna after participating in Yoga event at the banks of the river. Rekha Gupta said, 'Mother Yamuna is the symbol of our faith. For years, Yamuna has been ignored by the governments that have been in power; they didn't do the work that should have been done. But, we are continuing our efforts to clean the river Yamuna since we assumed power in Delhi... Today, from the bank of this river, we participate in Yoga to give a message to the people of Delhi that the work is ongoing to clean the river. Soon, there will be cruises here where the boats are," ANI reported.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said, "We are celebrating the day enthusiastically. By doing regular Yoga, we remain fit. PM Modi had requested for International Yoga Day in UN, the Yoga has got popular, it is being done across the world. I would like to urge people to adopt Yoga in their lives," PTI reported.
Border Security Force (BSF) organised a yoga event at the Attari border in Punjab while BSF personnel and locals performed Yoga under 'One Earth, One Health' theme in Rajasthan's Bikaner.
Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari participated in Yoga activity at Jaipur's City Palace.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath can be seen performing Yoga on the occasion of International Yoga Day with and other dignitaries.
PM Modi on June 21 said, "For the expansion of Yoga in the world, India is empowering the science of Yoga through modern research... We are also encouraging evidence-based therapy in the field of Yoga. Delhi AIIMS has done a good job in this regard. Its research has shown that yoga has a critical role in the treatment of cardiac and neurological disorders, and it also plays an important role in women's health and mental health," ANI reported.
PM Modi, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan participated in the grand Yoga session in Visakhapatnam.
'Let this Yoga Day mark the beginning of Yoga for humanity 2.0 where inner peace becomes global policy,' PM Modi said in Visakhapatnam.
PM Modi said, "The theme of this year's International Day of Yoga is 'Yoga For One Earth, For One Health'. This theme reflects a deep truth: the health of every entity on Earth is interconnected. Human well-being depends on the health of the soil that grows our food, the rivers that give us water, the health of the animals that share our ecosystems, and the plants that nourish us. Yoga awakens us to this interconnectedness, leads us on a journey towards oneness with the world, and teaches us that we are not isolated individuals but part of nature," ANI reported.
'In the last one decade, when I see the journey of Yoga, it reminds me of many things. The day India put forth a resolution in the UNGA - to recognise June 21 as International Yoga Day- and in a very short time, 175 countries of the world stood with our country. This unity and support in today's world is not a normal incident,' PM Modi said.
PM Modi said, "Heartfelt greetings to people across the country and the world on International Yoga Day. For the 11th time, the entire world is coming together on June 21 to practice yoga. Yoga simply means 'to unite', and it is heartening to see how yoga has united the whole world.'

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that the aim is not only to gain global recognition but also to foster a deep-rooted commitment to yoga across the state. As part of this vision, the government plans to introduce yoga into the school curriculum starting from Class 9 and establish a deemed university dedicated to the discipline.
