The infant was found alone in a yard by a local resident earlier this week. A baby girl's parents, uncle and gran have been found dead after the infant was discovered strapped to a car seat in a stranger's garden. ‌ The baby was discovered alone inside the yard after a resident on Highway 20, near Tigrett, in Tennessee, alerted police at about 3:11pm local time on Tuesday, July 29. Authorities confirmed a child had been left in a Dyer County yard and was now safe. ‌ A probe was launched amid concern the girl's parents and relatives could not be contacted. Just hours later, officials discovered the bodies off Carrington Road. The Dyer County District Attorney's Office confirmed that the girl's parents James Wilson, 21, and Adrianna Williams, 20, were found dead. Cortney Rose, 38, and Braydon Williams, 15, the baby's maternal grandmother and uncle, were also found dead. ‌ Officials discovered two vehicles connected to the family, a black Dodger Charger and a White SUV, near the crime scene. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is now leading the investigation with assistance from the Dyer County Sheriff. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations said: "The investigation, including efforts to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects, remains active and ongoing." The investigation is active and ongoing. ‌ In an update shared today, the sheriff's department issued details of a suspect wanted by officials. Austin Robert Drummond is wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder, kidnapping and several other charges. He was described as 5'10 with brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee. Grand jury indicts man in connection to deadly hit-and-run last month

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Chicago man accused of not reporting an accident in a deadly hit-and-run in south Peoria was indicted Tuesday by a Peoria County grand jury. Demoriele Sims, 36, faces a single count of failing to report an accident that killed 38-year-old Quentin Shinkle. If convicted, Sims faces up to 15 years in prison. The charge alleges Sims was in a 2010 Dodger Charger when he was allegedly 'involved in a motor vehicle accident… that resulted in the death of Shinkle and then fled the scene of that accident.' It also said he failed to report the accident within the required 30 minutes after the collision. On Jan. 13, officers responded to the 2100 block of West Dr. Martin Luther King Drive just after 1 a.m., Jan. 13, on a report of a man who was in the roadway. There, they found Shinkle in the street with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died on Jan. 18. According to court records, the vehicle was registered to Sims and when it was found, the windshield on the driver's side was caved inward with damage to the bumper, the grill and the roof of the car, said Anna Perales of the state's attorney's office. Parts found at the scene matched the vehicle. Sims will next appear in court on March 6 for his arraignment hearing. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. State Trooper Karen Claims He Was Shot By Black Man, But You Won't Believe What Really Happened...

Tables have turned for a state trooper as he's now facing criminal charges for allegedly making up a shooting. The former New York trooper was allegedly looking for 'attention or sympathy,' according to a criminal complaint, after officials say an investigation into a reported shooting unexpectedly took a turn. It all started in October 2024 when Thomas Mascia 'initiated a radio transmission for shots fired' while on duty, according to the complaint obtained by ABC News. The 27-year-old officer then 'claimed he was shot by the driver of a black Dodger Charger described as either a Black or dark-skinned Hispanic male.' The alleged crime scene was temporarily shut down by state police 'in an effort to locate the non-existent shooters, causing alarm and inconvenience to the public,' the complaint said. A multi-state manhunt was launched, involving law enforcement from New York, New Jersey and Delaware, said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. She also added during a recent news conference Mascia allegedly staged the Oct. 30 shooting after hours of preparation. The 27-year-old allegedly dropped nine .22-caliber shell casings at the scene and later drove to Hempstead Lake State Park where he shot himself in the leg, according to NBC News. Then, Mascia allegedly brought the same gun to his home before driving back to the parkway and reporting he had been shot, according to officials. 'The evidence uncovered and the absence of evidence told us everything we needed to know,' the district attorney said. 'Even though Mascia tried to hide his tracks, it didn't take long for everyone to uncover that his harrowing story was nothing more than an elaborate work of fiction.' An investigation into the matter was conducted by state police and the district attorney's office, according to ABC. They soon found no evidence to back Mascia's testimony and a subsequent search of Mascia's home, where he lived with his parents, only got him into deeper trouble. A second firearm was found in his home, but the problem is his father, Thomas, is a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to be in possession of a gun, said Donnelly. Both Thomas and his wife, Dorothy, consequently turned themselves into police on Monday (Jan. 27) for criminal possession of a firearm charges, according to the district attorney's office. Mascia also surrendered himself to police, according to a spokesperson for the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Now, he's been charged with tampering with evidence, false reporting of a crime and official misconduct, according to reports. Jeffrey Lichtman, a lawyer for the Mascia family said 'There are many less severe and less dangerous ways to garner sympathy that don't include shooting oneself,' he said. 'This case is a tragedy that was caused by unseen and untreated mental health issues. And now an entire family is suffering for it as they usually do in such situations.' N.Y. State Trooper Who Said He Was Shot in the Line of Duty Turns Himself in for Staging the Incident for 'Attention'

A New York state trooper who claimed in October 2024 that he was shot in the line of duty turned himself into New York State Police (NYSP) headquarters on Monday, Jan. 27, the NYSP Trooper Thomas J. Mascia Jr., 27, reported that on Wednesday, Oct. 30, around 11:45 p.m., he was shot in the leg while checking on a disabled vehicle in the median on the Southern State Parkway in North Massapequa, N.Y. He "initiated a radio transmission for shots fired," according to a felony complaint, ABC News reports. Mascia "claimed he was shot by the driver of a black Dodger Charger described as either a Black or dark-skinned Hispanic male." Mascia was transported and treated at the hospital for the gunshot wound to his right leg. As a result, 'the report also triggered an intense search to locate the vehicle described by Mascia,' per the NYSP. However, Mascia allegedly "staged the scene of the shooting. And earlier in the day, he placed nine shell casings on the ground before he "shot himself in the leg in another location before returning to the staged location" on the parkway. On Monday, NYSP Superintendent Steven G. James and Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced Mascia's arrest and that he could be in prison for one to three years. He was charged with tampering with physical evidence, falsely reporting an incident and official misconduct. He also resigned from his State Police position. An illegal assault-style gun and $800,000 in cash were found in their home, where Thomas Jr. also resides. Although the firearm was not the same one used in the shooting, Thomas Sr. is a convicted felon, and it is illegal for him to own a gun. The couple also surrendered to the police. Thomas Sr. is a former New York Police Department officer. In 1993, he was dismissed from the force after he was accused of running a cocaine ring, according to The New York Times. Each was released on their own bail on Monday. During a Monday press conference, Donnelly said that Thomas Jr. "knew the fear that it would create -- and he did it anyway," she said, adding that his intentions for the "unconscionable" deception were unclear. 'It didn't take long for everyone to uncover that his harrowing story was nothing more than an elaborate work of fiction,' Donnelly said.
