Marion County Humane Society launches Doggy Day Out Program
FAIRMONT, (WBOY) — The Marion County Humane Society has launched a new program to give shelter dogs a fun day out.
According to a Facebook post from the humane society, the Doggy Day Out program allows interested participants to take a shelter dog out for activities that both the pup and the person can enjoy, such as going for a car ride, getting a pup cup from Starbucks, taking a walk in the park or going shopping at pet-friendly stores.
These outings are meant to help dogs with human socialization only, so if you have another dog they'll need to be left at home.

To sign up, participants will need to fill out an application, then the humane society will match you with a dog based on what activity you have planned.
You will be given a supply bag, emergency contact information and highlighted details of important points. The humane society also asks that you take pictures with your dog during the outing and tag them on any social media post you make.
The dogs must be returned by 4 p.m. unless an overnight is scheduled. Only paper applications are available at this time.
