Boy sexually abused girl and told her she needed to learn 'how to make out'

Boy sexually abused girl and told her she needed to learn 'how to make out' William Doheny, now 20, sexually abused his victim when he himself was under the age of 16 William Doheny sexually assaulted the primary school-aged girl when he was aged under 16, Swansea Crown Court heard (Image: Media Wales Ltd) A man sexually abused a young girl when he himself was a child. William Doheny, of Edward Street, Barry, sexually assaulted the primary school-aged girl when he was aged under 16. Doheny, now 20, committed the offences several years ago, a sentencing hearing at Swansea Crown Court on Monday, August 11, heard. The defendant would play games with his victim which then turned sexual and included wrestling, touching the girl's breasts and telling her that she needed to learn 'how to make out", the court was told. He also forced her to perform oral sex on him on more than one occasion. For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation, sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here . Prosecution barrister Rebecca Griffiths read a victim impact statement to the court which read: 'What has happened to me has had a lasting effect. Although this happened years ago I am massively struggling now to come to terms with what happened. 'William took advantage of me when I was younger. "I was completely vulnerable. To go to the police and tell them what happened and face the prospect of a trial in court terrified me. "I got to a point last year where I wanted to end my life. I feel guilty but the one who should feel guilty is William. He is the one who is responsible for this.' In mitigation barrister David Pinnell said Doheny is an 'able young man' who wants to 'put these matters behind him' and concentrate on gaining employment. Article continues below Having pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child Doheny was sentenced by Judge Lucy Crowther to a two-year community order meaning he must complete a 20-day rehabilitation order and 250 hours of unpaid work. He was also made the subject of a restraining order prohibiting him from directly or indirectly contacting his victim for a period of five years.

Woman labelled ‘neighbour from hell' appeals jail term after latest abusive dispute

Geraldine Doheny (51), who a judge claimed has 'an inability to mind her own business', was recently sentenced to three months behind bars A middle-aged Laois woman has said she has been wrongly made out to be a 'bad bitch' and 'neighbour from hell' after being sentenced to prison for her latest dispute with neighbours on her road in Mountrath. Geraldine Doheny (51), who a judge claimed has 'an inability to mind her own business', was recently sentenced to three months behind bars after being convicted of criminal damage and threatening and abusive behaviour towards a neighbour at Old Forge Crescent, Mountrath on August 9, 2024. Ms Doheny, who is appealing the jail term, has been in multiple disputes with neighbours, including her own brother, on the road for the past seven years but said she is wrongly being made out to be the one in the wrong and has asked the council to be moved but has been refused. She has previously been bound to the peace for an incident in which she headbutted her brother and produced a hurl and was also arrested over another incident earlier this year where she waved a hurl at another neighbour who she claimed had spat on the pavement. Ms Doheny told the Sunday World that she had also been in dispute with former next door neighbours who moved out after she pointed CCTV cameras at their property. She said she had unfairly been labelled a 'neighbour from hell'. 'They're saying I'm causing all the trouble. The guard painted me out to be a bad bitch [saying] I headbutted, I had a hurl. I'm frustrated, I've had enough. I'll do prison but I've done nothing to get it,' she said. She said she had been living on the road for 18 years but only started getting into disputes around seven years ag after rowing with her brother and his then partner and since then she has received four convictions related to disputes with various neighbours. Other people she was rowing with have also been before the courts including her brother and her brother's former partner. 'It's all madness, There's been too much,' she said. She was handed down the prison sentence in June over an incident in August 2024 where she called to a female neighbour's house while on the phone to gardai complaining her tax on her car was out of date. 'The garda said what's her reg and I'd forgotten her reg but in the frustration of the moment I asked her did she want to talk to the guard on the phone 'I went up to her with the phone. I said talk to the guard.' The incident led to a row during which she grabbed her neighbour's chain and threw it down the shore. Ms Doheny's phone was also damaged in the incident. 'I swear on my son's life I did not hit her,' Ms Doheny said this week. Mr Doheny was charged with threatening and abusive behaviour and criminal damage. Her neighbour was also initially charged with criminal damager to Ms Doheny's phone but those charges were later dismissed. CCTV of the incident was played in Portlaoise District Court. 'They played the one bit of footage over and over. I think it must have been 15 to 20 times of seeing if I kicked her or didn't kick her. For two hours this was going on. I didn't hit her.' Ms Doheny said she had ongoing issues with her neighbour and they didn't get on and it wasn't just down to a tax disc being out of date. Judge Andrew Cody noted it was the third time Ms Doheny had been back in court for 'fighting with neighbours' and said she seems to have 'a complete inability to mind her own business'. He said she clearly invaded her neighbour's personal space and attacked her on the side of the road before sentencing her to six months in prison with the final three months suspended. A garda witness said she had previous convictions for affray and criminal damage arising out of other disputes with neighbours on her road. Ms Doheny said this week that she headbutted her brother Joseph, who lived on the road with his partner Lorraine Hall, in one of those previous incidents after confronting him about him coming up to her home. 'I confronted him. He got in my face and told me to go into my house. He kept getting into my face so I headbutted him and said get out of my face. 'I cant stand him. I helped him get his disability and his new apartment and that's the thanks I got for it.' She said she hasn't got on with her brother in recent years and no longer talks to him. She said she was given a suspended sentence over that incident and bound to the peace. Her brother was also bound to the peace over that incident. She said she has also been involved in an ongoing dispute with Lorraine Hall. One row between the pair started on Facebook and spilled out onto the street in February. Ms Hall called to Ms Doheny's house while intoxicated and started shouting at her. 'She called me a baby killer' Ms Hall admitted trespass, being intoxicated and behaving in a threatening, abusive or insulting manner at an address at Old Forge Crescent on February 6 last. Four days later Ms Doheny got into yet another dispute, this time with her next door neighbour whose bracelet she broke last year, after claiming she saw her spitting outside her gate. 'I went out to her with a hurl,' she said. 'I had enough of the spitting. I was sick of it. I said 'you better stop coughing up your insides and spitting it at my gate'. I have a right to do that. I had the hurl in my hand. She laughed and walked back in. 'I didn't hit her. I'm sorry now. I should have if I was going to go to prison for it.' While she hasn't been charged over that incident, she was arrested in relation to it in April. 'I was never in a garda car before. I was only gone for about three hours. 'They put me into a cell in Abbeyleix. It was grand and cool to be honest. I'm going through the menopause but it was grand and cool and it was spotless. It was grand and clean. The female guard asked me what it was like and I said it's grand and cool in there. She asked me if I wanted fresh air but I said I'm grand. I wouldn't mine going back into it, it's like a little therapy room. 'You see the joke side of a bad situation and that's the way I looked at it. It was grand and cool though and you could hear the birds outside.' She said she had also been in a number of disputes with former next door neighbours who moved out three years ago because they no longer wanted to live beside her. 'She said I had her kids terrorised. They moved because I put a camera at my door and I pushed it right in on her grounds. Then they moved out. It was because of the camera.' She said she is getting unfairly maligned when she appears in court. 'They painted me out to be wrong. I don't care what people who don't know me say but people who know me know I'm not like that. 'I've just come to the stage where I don't care now.' She said more than a dozen neighbours provided character references for her for her court hearing. She said she has made numerous complaints to gardai about incidents which she said happened to her over the years but most of them don't make it to court. After one of those isMiddle sues was struck out of court she said she gave out to the judge. 'I said you're nothing but wankers. I'm frustrated, I've had enough.' She said she has pleaded with the council to be moved out of Old Forge Crescent but they have turned down her requests. 'Old Forge Crescent doesn't do it for me anymore. 'I'd go live in a caravan now and put it a the side of the road and walk away from all of this. 'If it went up on fire I'd stand outside and look at it.' 'They wont give me a move because of good estate management. If I have good estate management why the hell am I [supposed to be] causing all the trouble in this estate?' Her appeal against the severity of her sentence will be heard in November. 'If I have to go to prison for doing nothing wrong, I'll take the sentence but I have done nothing wrong.' Northern Knights left floored as Stephen Doheny's century inspires Munster Reds to victory

The 26-year-old has only played twice in two years for Ireland and was left out of the squad that will meet the West Indies in their forthcoming outing. The swashbuckling opener played an innings that his head coach Jeremy Bray – Ireland's first World Cup centurion – was justifiably proud of as Munster chased 274 to secure a bonus-point win with 10 overs to spare. Doheny top-scored with 129 from 111 balls (15 fours, four sixes), sharing a match-winning third wicket stand of 136 in 20 overs with Suliman Safi, whose even-time 68 included five fours and two sixes. Matthew Humphreys with two wickets was the pick of a beleaguered Knights attack that clearly wilted in the afternoon heat. Earlier, Cade Carmichael celebrated his maiden call-up to the senior ranks with a top score of 65 from just 56 balls, clubbing the ball to all parts, hitting 12 boundaries. There were half-centuries too for James McCollum (58) and Neil Rock (50), but from 155 for two in the 29th over, the Knights lost their way and a total of 274 always looked vulnerable in ideal batting conditions. Liam McCarthy claimed three wickets, as did Byron McDonough, while Lisburn's Josh Manley picked up a brace. Meanwhile at Oak Hill, the North West Warriors lost for the third game in succession, beaten by 44 runs against table toppers Leinster Lightning. Ryan MacBeth had made early inroads into the much-vaunted Leinster top-order, his four wickets including three internationals – Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, and George Dockrell. The Dubliners looked in serious trouble at 57 for four and 90 for five but got out of jail thanks to a wonderful innings from Chris De Freitas. The Balbriggan left-hander carried his bat in making an unbeaten 143 – the second-highest individual score in the competition's history – that saw the ball disappear to all parts of the picture-postcard Co Wicklow venue, thumping 19 fours and clearing the ropes four times. He found willing allies in Gavin Hoey (28) and Barry McCarthy (37), adding 159 with the pair as Lightning finished on 275. Andrew Balbirnie passed 50 for the third game in a row and skipper Andy McBrine made a defiant 63 that included 10 fours, but the Warriors were always behind the required rate, finishing 231 all out in the penultimate over.

After ‘kick' controversy, Nick Ball is ready to meet the best fighter in the world

Nick Ball retained his WBA featherweight title with an ugly win against TJ Doheny in Liverpool late on Saturday night. Ball was made to work hard to break down Doheny's resistance and it was a relief at ringside when the brave Australia-based Irishman was pulled out by his corner at the end of round ten. It looked like they had considered calling it off a round earlier; Doheny had nothing left but his guts at the end. The first round finished with the pair in a nasty tangle and when Ball pulled his head free, he kicked Doheny lightly on the back of the leg; Doheny collapsed to the canvas as Ball was ushered away. It set the tone for the fight. Ball, incidentally, was fortunate not to have lost a point, but belated screams for disqualification are way off the mark. Ball was in a headlock, he broke free, he tapped Doheny and then Doheny made a meal of it. It was a very excitable fight and crowd, and the emotions were flowing all over the place. It was not vicious, just a bit of frustration and Doheny was not screaming 'foul' at the end. Doheny had his spoiling tactics just right, but Ball was not falling for traps, not rushing in. Doheny was convinced he could solve Ball's aggressive style, but instead Ball picked his punches carefully and seldom rushed in and missed wildly. Doheny needed Ball to swing wildly, play to the crowd and get sucked in; Ball opted to box sensibly and that meant Doheny was on borrowed time from about round five. In round nine, Ball did lose a point when he bundled Doheny over to the canvas. He had been warned about the rough stuff and it was an inevitable deduction, but it was not malicious. There had been a lot of wayward elbows, shoulders and heads flying throughout the fight. Both finished with marks from the fight and Doheny's right eye was nearly closed. Ball is now unbeaten in 23 fights, it was his second defence of the title and it was a smart win, a win where Ball had to use far more of his boxing brain. Doheny had done his bit before and during the fight to remind Ball that he lacked experience and would panic when things started to go wrong. Doheny is 38 and won the world title on the road way back in 2018, so he knew this was probably his last hope of winning another world title. Unfortunately for him, the old-man routine failed to impress Ball, and that is why Doheny was left with no other option and had to survive. Doheny never stopped chirping away during the fight, talking in Ball's ear and on the blindside of the referee. Ball blocked him out in style and slowly, methodically beat the fight out of Doheny. The win will not get added to Ball's showreel of left and right-handed knockouts, but it was impressive. Enjoy over 150+ fights on DAZN, the Global Home of Boxing. 'I just like to fight,' Ball said. 'I had to show a few different things tonight, had to think a bit more.' The smarter Ball is a better Ball; too many in the boxing business seem to think that Ball can only fight one way and needs a willing body in front of him to look impressive. Doheny was a skilled and reluctant soul in the ring Saturday night and was slowly, bit by bit and rib by rib, broken apart by Ball's persistence and patience. Ball has been heavily linked with a fight against Naoya Inoue, probably in Saudi Arabia and probably in December. It is a bold fight, but one that Ball would find irresistible. Inoue is one of the very best fighters in the world, unbeaten 29 as a pro, a world champion in four weight divisions and happy to move to featherweight. Inoue is certainly not the first boxer to jump through the different weight divisions but he might just be the most impressive. 'I would take the Inoue fight in a second, obviously,' said Ball. 'It's a long way off, so let's see what happens.' It is clear that Inoue against Ball has been placed on a list of dream fights by Turki Alalshikh and the group of men steering and running the Saudi boxing business - so far, fights on the list have been made. It would just be the latest fantasy fight to become a reality. Inoue is still only 31 but during an 11-year reign of terror in world title fights, he has won titles at four weights, currently holds all the super-bantamweight belts and is unbeaten in 29 fights. So far, 26 men have failed to hear the final bell. However, there is always a limit to what a man can gain and still be effective; many multi-weight champions prefer to fight other men who have moved through the weights. In Ball, Inoue would find a man comfortable and incredibly strong at the weight - it could be a crucial factor. Ball has a mandatory challenger on the WBA's horizon and Inoue has a fight in Las Vegas in May, but those might just be tiny details in a much bigger plan to make a great fight happen. Ball showed against Doheny that he is ready.

Nick Ball vs. TJ Doheny live results, round-by-round updates, ring walks, start time for WBA title fight

Uncrowned has Nick Ball vs. TJ Doheny live results, round-by-round updates, highlights, ring walks and start time for the Ball vs. Doheny fight card on Saturday afternoon at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Ball defends his WBA featherweight world title against Doheny in a Britain vs. Ireland clash. Ball (21-0-1, 12 KOs) claimed the title with a controversial split decision victory over Raymond Ford as part of the Queensberry vs. Matchroom 5 vs. 5 card this past June. The Liverpudlian has since made one defense of his belt, a 10th-round TKO stoppage of Ronny Rios in October. Doheny (26-5, 20 KOs) previously held the unified WBA and IBF super bantamweight crown until he dropped the titles to Daniel Roman in 2019. Dohney then lost three more times in his next five fights, which many expected to be the end of his run at the top level, however the Irishman experienced an unexpected career resurgence in Japan. Doheny, 38, picked up three wins in a row over Japanese contenders following that slump, which earned him a shot at Naoya Inoue's undisputed championship this past September. Doheny extended Inoue into the second half of the fight but was forced to pull out with a back injury during the seventh round. Ball vs. Doheny begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on DAZN, with main event ring walks expected at 6:15 p.m. ET.
