TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of former footballer and "Mr Dollingstown" Aaron Moffett following his tragic death. Moffett, 38, passed away on Friday after being involved in a car crash back in July. 2 Aaron Moffett has passed away Credit: Facebook/Dollingstone FC 2 He was described as 'Mr Dollingstown' Credit: Facebook/Dollingstone FC The collision took place on the Coolmillish Road near Markethill in Co Armagh at around 4:30pm on July 12. After receiving treatment in hospital, Moffett passed away. His former club, Dollingstown FC led A statement read: "It is with total sadness that we announce the passing of Aaron Moffett. Words simply will never do him justice. Read More on Football "Moff was simply Mr Dollingstown, loved by all. "13 years as captain of the club, winning countless trophies along the way, he then took up the job of secretary where he played a vital role in the running and progress of the club ever since. "He was respected and admired by clubs all over the island. We thank each and every one of you for the messages and phone calls of support. "A total gentleman who we will never forget. His death united the footballing community in Northern Ireland . Portadown said: "Everyone at Portadown Football Club is deeply saddened to learn this evening of the passing of Aaron Moffett. "Aaron had strong connections to the club and was a much loved figure in local football. "We send our love, support and sympathies to his wife Lindsey, his brother in law Chris and all of the family circle." Banbridge Town posted: "Everyone at Banbridge Town are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Aaron Moffett. "As a club we wish to extend our sincerest sympathies to Aaron's family, friends and all at @dollingstownfc "Our thoughts and our prayers are centred on you all at this most difficult time." 'DEVASTATED' Glenavon tweeted: "GFC are devastated to learn of the passing of Aaron Moffett. 'Moff' captained our neighbours Dollingstown FC with distinction. "Our thoughts are with the Moffett and Robinson families during their time of loss. We extend our condolences to the wider DFC family." The NIFL said: "Everyone at the NI Football League is saddened to learn of the passing of @dollingstownfc secretary Aaron Moffett. "Our collective thoughts are with Aaron's family, friends and club at this extremely sad time." PFA Northern Ireland said: "We're hugely saddened to learn of the passing of former Dollingstown player and Club Secretary Aaron Moffett. "Our thoughts are with Aaron's family and friends and particularly with Aaron's Brother In Law, our much valued colleague at The Irish Football Association, Chris Wright"
