Emmerdale fans shocked to discover top music star once appeared on ITV soap
Emmerdale fans have been shocked to find out that a famous singer once appeared on the ITV soap a decade ago, just before he found mainstream success in music Emmerdale fans have been left shocked after learning that a top music star once appeared on the ITV soap more than a decade ago. In 2015, Dominic Richard Harrison signed up to play the part of Matt, wh o had a short stay in the fictional Yorkshire village as a potential love interest for Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper). Two years after his stint on the ITV programme, Dominic had reinvented himself under the stage name of Yungblud, and has since released four albums, the latest of which was titled Idols and came out in June. But upon discovering the truth, Emmerdale fans flooded social media with their reactions. One wrote on X: "How did I not notice him!!" whilst another said: "Right petition for Dom to get back to the village.". A third penned: "@Yungblud how didn't I notice you in emmerdale" and a fourth simply said: "This is so cute." It comes after ITV makes major decision on I'm A Celebrity's future after talks with officials. The following year, Yungblud starred in the Disney series The Lodge, which functioned as a musical and mystery drama that centred on the life of Skye Hart (Sophie Simnett), a teenage girl who relocates to rural Northern Ireland when her father takes over the North Star hotel. The musician had a recurring role as Oz, a singer who featured as a love interest for the character of Kaylee (Jade Alleyne). His roles in Emmerdale and The Lodge are so far his only two credited acting roles, but Yungblud is not the only singer to have started out on a soap opera. Spice Girls star Mel B appeared as Bettabuys worker Amy Nelson in Coronation Street in 1993, having been drafted in to film a single scene as the character when original actress Louise Duprey decided to suddenly quit. In the years that followed, Mel enjoyed major success alongside Geri Halliwell, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham as part of the world's best-selling girl band in history. What's more, her bandmate Emma, who was known as Baby Spice, had appeared as a mugger in BBC soap EastEnders before finding global fame. Before finding success as part of The 1975, Matty Healy appeared as an extra in the first series of Waterloo Road when his mother Denise Welch starred as hapless French teacher Steph Haydock. Louis Tomlinson was also seen on the BBC school drama in the years before he shot to fame as part of One Direction. And Sam Fender, now best known for hits such as Seventeen Going Under and Hypersonic Missiles, appeared in an episode of the detective series Vera. At the time, he joked: "I got killed in the first ever episode of that ITV detective programme called Vera set in the North East. I lasted like 10 seconds, I think.' For Yungblud, the news comes just hours after he was hailed the new Prince of Darkness thanks to his close friendship with the late Ozzy Osbourne. He said: 'I want to achieve what Ozzy did. He was a great inspiration to me.' Ozzy and Doncaster-born star Dom, became friends after the Brummie rocker appeared in the video for Yungblud's song The Funeral in 2022. The pair bonded over their shared love of music and their rebellious nature, with Ozzy gifting Dom one of his famous crucifix necklaces. Yungblud was among huge bands such as Metallica and Guns N' Roses who performed at Black Sabbath's final gig at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5. He gave a heartfelt rendition of Changes, the No1 hit Ozzy recorded with daughter Kelly in 2003, to the 45,000-strong before Ozzy's death, Dom hinted he was working with Sabbath star and at a possible secret recording with his mentor, saying: 'There is a lot in the works as me and Ozzy are friends.' The wild man of rock died aged 76 on July 22 at home in Buckinghamshire after suffering a cardiac arrest. Dom was among big names from the music world, such as Sir Elton John, James Hetfield of Metallica and Marilyn Manson, who attended Ozzy's funeral in Birmingham on July 30.

Another replied: 'Right petition for Dom to get back to the village.' '@Yungblud how didn't I notice you in emmerdale,' said a third amused fan. While a fourth posted: 'This is so cute.' Last week, Yungblud reportedly gave a reading at the funeral of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne at his home in Buckinghamshire. The singer had a very strong relationship with Ozzy, whom he first met in 2022, and it appeared that their relationship grew into an almost father-son type bond. The Black Sabbath frontman died aged 76 on July 22. Following the emotional day, Yungblud took to Instagram to share a close-up snap of the cross necklace Ozzy gifted him in 2022, during the filming of his The Funeral music video. Meanwhile, Yungblud recently revealed he was back on with his long-term girlfriend Jesse Jo Stark. They had previously split up after a period of intense 'insecurity.' Speaking about their separation, with Paul C. Brunson on his We Need To Talk podcast, Yungblud revealed Jesse agreed to a temporary separation as he wrestled with the pressures of living life in the spotlight. He said: 'This year has been such a strange thing for me because it's the first time that probably the biggest love of my life, I've taken space from and I've asked for space. 'Last year I was really having problems with myself and it was all a me problem.' 'Her name's Jesse Stark. She's probably the most incredible person I've ever met and she's my best friend and I feel so lucky to be in her orbit.'

Yungblud: I've thought about becoming a politician
Yungblud, the chart-topping singer who set up his own festival, has said he has considered becoming a 27-year-old artist - whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison - said he wanted to "provide some good somewhere" in future, having worked with fans in recent years to make gigs more affordable."This whole community was built on human connection, about how people live and what people struggle with," he told BBC One's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme. Asked if he had thought about going further by entering politics, he said: "I have actually thought about that, I know it's crazy... I think that has actually crossed my mind - Yungblud the politician." Last year, he launched his own festival, BludFest, in Milton Keynes, which was criticised by some after long queues and a lack of water caused fans to pass out and miss the tickets sold for £73.25 for this year's festival in the Buckinghamshire city, Yungblud said he felt more expensive events had become "a thing of privilege" that "do not represent real people"."I cannot play a festival where it's like 800 quid a ticket," he said, adding that artists like Coldplay were welcome to join the event. The pop-punk musician, known for songs including Cotton Candy and Fleabag, has had two number one albums in the UK chart with Weird! in 2020 and his self-titled album in in the interview, he reflected on how difficult it was to be a young person today with "so much anger" and hate in the comments of social media what his hardest moment had been, he said: "I'll never forget, someone came to me in a pub in east London and just was like, 'your music is terrible and I don't believe you and I hate it'."He said he was left feeling "like a wounded animal" where you "try and lick yourself and bring yourself back to it". Whereas back then, aged 22, he responded with a tentative "oh, yeah, cool like", now he feels confident not to "give them the power of a reaction".Ahead of the release next month of his new album, Idols, he said one of the themes behind it was to "embrace my masculinity, which is a crazy thing to say in 2025"."Honestly I am so proud of what we've created," he said of his young fanbase.

Yungblud reveals he has thought about becoming a politician
Singer Yungblud has said he wants to 'provide some good somewhere' and has contemplated becoming a politician. The 27-year-old from Doncaster, real name Dominic Richard Harrison, said he already connects with people through his gigs and festival BludFest, which offers cheaper tickets compared to many other UK music festivals. Advertisement The music artist told BBC One show Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg that music has become 'a thing of privilege' and that he 'cannot play a festival where it's like 800 quid a ticket'. Asked if he has thought about becoming a politician, he said: 'I have actually thought about that, I know it's crazy. 'I feel like you start something as a musician and then you kind of connect with people on the daily, like I always make an effort to see people outside the gigs and see people walk around the festival. 'This whole community was built on human connection, about how people live and what people struggle with. Advertisement 'I thought maybe one day, I think I could do something that would be, I could provide some good somewhere. 'I think that has actually crossed my mind – Yungblud the politician.' The singer, described by Kuenssberg as a 'spokesperson' for Gen Z, also discussed modern-day notions of masculinity and said this is something he explores on his new album, Idols. 'With this album, I said at the start of it, I really want to embrace my masculinity, which is a crazy thing to say in 2025,' he said. 'There is a beautiful, pure, loving, caring, but also … I like to box, I like to sing, but I also like to wear a kilt. 'There's a new type of masculinity that can be out there and that can be shown, and, as I say, with this community what I want to give is I want to give love and pure love.' The music star, who has spoken openly about his mental health struggles, discussed how he deals with hate and said he 'shut down' after someone came up to him in a pub in east London and told him, 'your music is terrible'. Advertisement 'I remember, I was, like, 22 and I was trying to like (think) how do I respond to this? And I kind of was just, like, 'Oh yeah, cool'. I really shut down. I think about that probably once a week,' he said. The musician, known for songs including Cotton Candy and Fleabag, has had two number one albums in the UK chart with Weird!, in 2020, and his self-titled album in 2022. Earlier in the year, he received the disruptor of the year award at the Nordoff and Robbins Northern Music Awards, held in Liverpool.
