Risk of flash floods and water pooling on roads in Toronto, as Environment Canada issues rainfall warning
Toronto and surrounding areas are under a rainfall warning with up to 60 millimetres expected by the end of the day on Thursday. Environment Canada issued a warning around noon saying 35 millimetres of rain has already been reported in Toronto since Thursday morning, and an additional 20 millimetres is expected for areas east of the Don Valley Parkway. "Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible," the weather agency said in its warning. People should also watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. The rain is expected to turn into showers this evening.
