WR Greg Dortch officially signs one-year tender to return to Arizona Cardinals in 2025

WR Greg Dortch officially signs one-year tender to return to Arizona Cardinals in 2025 Dortch, a restricted free agent, returns to the Cardinals for a fifth season. It is official. Wide receiver Greg Dortch is back with the Arizona Cardinals. The team announced Friday that Dortch signed the one-year tender that was extended to him as a restricted free agent last month. He returns for his fifth season with the team. The tender was for a one-year contract worth almost $3.3 million, but that deal has no guarantees. He will have to make the final roster to earn it. As a restricted free agent, he was free to negotiate with other teams and sign an offer sheet, but the Cardinals, under the right-of-first-refusal tender offer they gave Dortch, would have been able to match any contract he was offered. Dortch has been the team's primary punt returner and a rotational receiver for the last three seasons. In 2024, he averaged 9.6 yards on 21 punt returns. He also caught 37 passes for 342 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. As the roster now stands, he will battle Zay Jones for the No. 3 receiver job behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson. Deadline for WR Greg Dortch approaching to find offer from another team

When the 2025 league year began on March 12, there were only 13 players who received tenders as restricted free agents. That group included Arizona Cardinals wide receiver/return specialist Greg Dortch, who was tendered a one-year contract for $3.263 million, which is the lowest of the four levels. When a player is tendered it counts immediately against the salary cap. With Friday (April 18) the deadline for players to sign offer sheets with new teams, five remained unsigned, including Dortch. The others are Falcons center Ryan Neuzil, Ravens safety Ar'Darius Washington, Jaguars tackle Cole Van Lanen and Steelers running back Jaylen Warren. Of the eight that have signed, 49ers running back Jordan Mason was traded to the Vikings, while the Patriots matched an offer the Raiders made to linebacker Christian Elliss. The others signed their tender. The number of RFAs has decreased in recent years because of the four-year contracts drafted players receive as well as the increasing value of the tenders. To that end, there were 46 potential RFAs that didn't receive a tender, making them total free agents. That included three Cardinals: outside linebacker Jesse Luketa, safety Andre Chachere and offensive lineman Carter O'Donnell. Of those 46, 26 have signed new contracts, all for amounts less than the lowest tender. Fourteen returned to their team, while 12 signed with new teams. The Cardinals trio remain free agents. Arizona Cardinals free agent preview: Wide receiver

Arizona Cardinals free agent preview: Wide receiver With free agency approaching, a look at the Cardinals' offseason needs at wide receiver. NFL free agency begins next week on Monday with the opening of the contact and negotiation window with players whose contracts expire on March 12 and become free agents. The Arizona Cardinals will be active, although it is uncertain how aggressive they will be or how much money they will spend. But before that happens, we will take a look at each position group, see who is on the roster, who will be free agents and what their need at the position is for the offseason. Let's look at the the situation wide receiver. Wide receivers under contract Marvin Harrison Jr.: Signed through 2027 (with team option for 2028), $6.4 million cap hit in 2025 Michael Wilson: Signed through 2026, $1.5 million cap hit in 2025 Xavier Weaver: Signed through 2026, $970,000 cap hit in 2025 Andre Baccellia: Signed through 2025, $1.03 million cap hit Trishton Jackson: Signed through 2025: $1.1 million cap hit Tejhaun Palmer: Signed through 2025, $840,000 cap hit Quez Watkins: Signed through 2025, $1.03 million cap hit Pending free agents Greg Dortch Zach Pascal Zay Jones Offseason need The Cardinals only have two receivers they can count on to be at all productive in Harrison and Wilson, and Wilson has not cracked 600 yards in either of his first two seasons. They need to add at least one starting-caliber receiver, whether that is mainly an outside guy or someone to primarily play in the slot. Yes, Weaver and Palmer could factor in for the 2025 season and Watkins is an intriguing addition, but none should be guys the team banks on yet. Could the Cardinals go spend moderately big money on a No. 2 receiver? They certainly could with the cap space they have. Expect them to make at least one notable addition to the receiver room. It might be a mid-tier guy and then a lower-mid-tier guy. Jones could re-sign and so could Dortch, although Dortch's 2024 season was nothing short of a disappointment. Notable free agent receivers The following guys could be potential targets, some on the higher end and others in the middle. Keenan Allen Amari Cooper Chirs Godwin K.J. DeSoto Co., ACLU oppose Mississippi redistricting plans

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Redistricting plans in Mississippi could be one step closer to becoming a reality. The state's House and Senate passed the proposals on Wednesday. Lawmakers have had their say on redistricting plans for parts of Mississippi, but a federal court will make the final decision. If it is approved, the redistricting maps that passed in Mississippi's House and Senate could bring some major changes. It would impact voters and elections the most. Mississippi election officials argue against quick work on drawing new majority-Black districts 'If the court agrees with the plans submitted by the State, then there will be elections in the fall, primary elections, then general elections for these new districts and all the districts that are impacted,' said Jarvis Dortch, the executive director for the ACLU of Mississippi. 'I think it's about 15 in all. Ten on the Senate side and five in the House.' Dortch says this all stems from a lawsuit that was filed in 2022. Dortch says legal action was taken because 2022 district maps failed to reflect the Black population growth in Mississippi, which was recorded in the 2020 census. The ACLU says its biggest concern was the potential of silenced Black voters. 'We presented several different plans in that litigation, showing that you can create more majority Black districts in parts of the state and the court agreed with us on the ability to do that in DeSoto County and Hattiesburg, and also in Chickasaw County on the House side,' Dortch said. After the judge's ruling, the Senate and House were ordered to redraw the maps. But, lawmakers, leaders and some members of the community are not happy about it. The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors released a statement on Tuesday that announced its decision to hire legal counsel to explore any legal options that can be used to oppose the Senate's redistricting plan. 📡 for Memphis and the Mid-South. 📧 and have the latest top stories sent right to your inbox. Dortch says he is also dissatisfied with the proposal. He says the ACLU of Mississippi plans to object to it because the newly drawn maps fail to create additional opportunities for Black voters, specifically in DeSoto and Chickasaw Counties. 'So that district that it creates now, which is currently held by a Black senator and Black voters have a choice in who they elect to that district, it really looks like a district where that wouldn't be the case anymore,' Dortch said. The ACLU of Mississippi says it is also unhappy with the lack of communication among lawmakers and the community. The group plans to hold community meetings soon in DeSoto County to further discuss the redistricting proposal and what it means for residents. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. 2025 offseason roster profile: WR Greg Dortch

The Arizona Cardinals are in offseason mode and we are still weeks away from free agency and months from the NFL draft. Over the next little while, we will take a look at each player on the roster or signed to a reserve deal and break down where they stand with the team. We will look at their 2024 season, their contract status and what their status is for the coming offseason and 2025 season. Next up is wide receiver Greg Dortch. 2024 Greg Dortch stats, season After Rondale Moore was traded in the offseason, it appears that Dortch would be in position to break out as the team's primary slot receiver. He did play a little more (432 offensive snaps in 2024 after 397 in 2023) and did have increased production (37 catches for 342 yards and three touchdowns after having 24 for 280 and two in 2023), but he was not as impactful as he was in 2022. His playing time decreased late in the season as they began using Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson more in the slot, giving Zay Jones snaps. He continued to be the team's primary punt returner, averaging a career-high 9.6 yards per return. 2025 contract status Dortch will be a restricted free agent when the league year begins on March 12. If the Cardinals tender him a qualifying offer, they can match any offer another team gives him, but it also means paying him a projected almost $3.2 million. Outlook for 2025 It is uncertain whether or not the Cardinals will use an RFA tender on him. One would figure they would like him to return, as he is a favorite of quarterback Kyler Murray, but they might not want to pay him the more than $3 million it would cost to tender him, especially if he is going to be WR4 as he ended up being late in the season.
