On 'Jersey Shore,' Pauly D and Nikki stay committed while Lauren goes after Angelina

DJ Pauly DelVecchio and Nikki Hall are committed — to the status quo. A romantic five-year anniversary dinner under the stars and on the beach in Nikki's home country of Jamaica did not produce a proposal from Pauly, but rather a commitment to keep the relationship as it is on the Thursday, July 24, episode of 'Jersey Shore Family Vacation.' Pauly and Nikki first appeared in front of the cameras together in 2019 on the 'Jersey Shore' spin-off, 'Double Shot at Love with DJ Pauly D and Vinny.' 'We've come a long way since 'Double Shot,' ' Pauly said. 'You'd think that it was two men trying to find women. No, it was a double shot that I needed because the first shot didn't work.' Pauly initially turned down Nikki after the first season of 'Double Shot.' 'As much as it kills me to say this, I'm rolling solo for now,' said Pauly on the 2019 'Double Shot' finale, which was shown Thursday in a flashback. Pauly finally gave Nikki a shot on the second season of 'Double Shot,' and the two have remained together since. 'She is everything I wanted in a woman and look at us now,' said Pauly, who has an 11-year old daughter from a previous relationship. 'We've come a long way, and here's to a long way more. Happy anniversary, my love. I wanted to have some alone time with you.' Alone, in the context of reality TV, also means the production crew standing a few feet from their table. That aside, Mike and Lauren Sorrentino, Jenni 'JWoww' Farley and Angelina Pivarnick stumbled on the romantic moment and joined the dinner. Angelina added saltiness with a query to Mike about his favorite sexual position, but Lauren shot that down quick. 'This started as a beautiful, romantic evening and it's taken a raunchy turn, a raunchy hard turn right,' Lauren said. 'I don't think it's your place to ask. I am the mom to three small children and I don't want them to see this in the future.' However, the 'Jersey Shore' producers showed Mike asking a similar question to cast members at previous family dinners. 'Lauren, relax,' said Angelina in a confessional. 'Lauren's like being a little bit of a brat right now. Like, have you been in outer space in every dinner we go to?' Lunchtime on Jamaica the next day was revealing when Pauly and Nikiki dined with Nikki's friend, Rochelle, and her mom, Faith. Nikki's ties to Rochelle and Faith are deep. Growing up, Nikki was 'quiet,' Faith said. 'I always give her lots of hugs because her mommy's not there,' Faith said. 'So I give her lots of attention to make sure she's OK.' Nikki's mom was largely absent from her life growing up for reasons not made clear on the show. 'I think growing up without my mom was a little sad but when I moved in with Rochelle and her mom, I never felt that absence so I ended up staying,' Nikki said. Perhaps this perspective on Nikki is putting her in a new light for Pauly. 'Seeing Nikki in Jamaica is like putting the pieces of the puzzle together,' Pauly said. 'All the stuff she talked about, now I get to see it and it makes me want to love her even more.' 'Jersey Shore Family Vacation' airs at 8 p.m. Thursdays on MTV.
