Historic Dumfries and Galloway hotel listed on auction site for £342,000

The Douglas Arms in Castle Douglas has had a number of owners in the past decade and is now listed on the Future Property Auctions website. A historic Castle Douglas hotel is due to go under the hammer. The Douglas Arms has been listed on the Future Property Auctions website with a starting bid of £342,000. ‌ The auction is due to take place on Thursday. ‌ The hotel on the corner of King Street and St Andrew Street is more than 200 years old. It started life as a coaching inn. The property has had a number of owners in the past decade. A community takeover was investigated in 2017 after then owners Tayforth Inns LLP went into administration. Three Glasgow pubs help set new Guinness World Record

Three Glasgow pubs have helped set a new Guinness World Record. The Old Oak Inn, the Douglas Arms, and The Kirkhouse collaborated with pubs nationwide to set the record for the largest simultaneous pint pour. They joined in with 114 pubs across the UK as part of 'The Big Pour' event on April 7. Read more: Fancy bottomless gaming? This Glasgow bar has unique offer Organised by Heineken, the record-breaking event celebrated the now more than 1,000 pubs serving Heineken 0.0 per cent beer on tap. This makes it the most widely available 0.0 per cent beer on draught in the UK - a significant milestone for making alcohol-free drinks more accessible. To celebrate, pubs across the country, came together on a mass video call to pour pints of Heineken 0.0 per cent and Heineken in perfect sync. The event was monitored by an official Guinness World Records adjudicator. "This draught experience is central to pub culture, and for non-alcoholic beer to become truly mainstream, it needs to be part of that experience. "It needs to be poured from the tap like any other pint, not just another option in the fridge. "That's why we're committed to getting 0.0 on draught in pubs everywhere, because everyone deserves a proper pint, with or without alcohol."
