Hartland school bus driver arrested, accused of being drunk; kid calls 911

Police say a 72-year-old Hartland man was arrested after he was allegedly drunk driving a school bus and refused to let children off the bus.
A student on the school bus called 911 and said the driver would not let kids off the bus and was acting erratically.
The school bus was under the operation of Dousman Transport Company serving the Hartland-Lakeside School District.
HARTLAND, Wis. - A 72-year-old Hartland man was arrested on Monday, Jan. 27, after police say he was allegedly drunk driving a school bus and refused to let children off the bus.
What we know
The Hartland Police Department said the Waukesha County Communications dispatch center received a 911 call just before 4:30 p.m. Monday from a student on a school bus in Hartland stating that the school bus driver would not let kids off the bus and was acting erratically.
The school bus later stopped, and parents began to arrive to pick up their kids, confronting the bus driver. The entire school bus had evacuated, and the bus drove away.
Hartland police initiated a traffic stop on the school bus where contact was made with the bus driver. Upon further investigation, the bus driver was arrested.

He was later booked into the Waukesha County Jail and is accused of the following:
Operating while intoxicated, first offense with a passenger under the age of 16 years old
Second-degree recklessly endangering safety
The school bus was under the operation of Dousman Transport Company serving the Hartland-Lakeside School District.
What's next
Charges are being referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office.
