VANDERBIJLPARK – The Sedibeng Chess region is proud to announce that it has been selected to host the prestigious Gauteng Inter-Region Chess Championship on December 6 and 7. The event will take place at the renowned Emerald Resort & Casino, marking a significant milestone as the championship comes to the Vaal Triangle for the very first time. Sedibeng Chess has expressed immense pride and gratitude for the opportunity. A spokesperson stated, 'We are enormously proud and grateful to have been chosen to host this event. It's a monumental first for our region.' The championship is expected to attract between 900 and 1,200 players from across Gauteng and beyond. Participants will compete in a team-based format and will range in age from just eight years old to seniors over 50, highlighting the broad appeal and inclusivity of the tournament.
