Ambedkar Bhavan in Mandya to get a facelift
Mandya: One of the prominent public places in the city, Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan is set to get a new look with renovation works to be undertaken at a cost of Rs 1 crore.
Deputy commissioner Kumara has stressed the importance of timely cleaning and proper upkeep of Ambedkar Bhavan, a key venue in the city where numerous public programmes are held.

During a meeting of the Ambedkar Bhavan Maintenance Committee at the DC's office here on Monday, Kumara stated that complaints were received regarding the quality of construction. A thorough inspection was conducted, and a detailed report was submitted. Kumara underscored the need for organisers of events at the bhavan to prioritise cleanliness and hygiene. He called for increased awareness among visitors about maintaining a clean environment, especially in common areas and restrooms.
Highlighting the financial support for the facility's upkeep, he said that over Rs 1 crore was sanctioned for the maintenance of the Ambedkar Bhavan. In the first phase, Rs 25 lakh was released. These funds will be used for purchasing chairs, tables, fans and a generator, as well as for creating a mini hall, undertaking painting work, fixing water leakages and carrying out minor repairs.
He directed officials to formulate an action plan and present it before the committee before commencing the work. The plan is expected to be ready within a week. Looking ahead, Kumara added that the possibility of installing solar panels on the premises will be explored under the next phase of funding.
