She reiterated that dementia occurs due the damage of brain cells and therefore it is not true that dementia is a normal part of ageing. And why dementia happens - there are still more to learn about it. - The important message she would like to tell us is that as we age, changes occur to our brain that can affect our memory and thinking. Which is normal. But when we notice changes in our thinking or behaviour or concerned about increasing lapse in our memory, we should see a doctor.
