Omani-Saudi dialogue forum explores ways to enhance knowledge cooperation

Muscat: The Omani-Saudi Knowledge Dialogue Forum commenced on Sunday in Muscat, organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in collaboration with the Saudi Council of University Affairs. The forum's opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. The Omani-Saudi Knowledge Dialogue Forum serves as a strategic platform to enhance knowledge cooperation and expertise exchange between the two brotherly countries. The forum aims to establish partnerships between higher education institutions in Oman and their counterparts in Saudi Arabia, strengthen scientific research collaboration through joint research programs and researcher exchanges, promote student and academic exchanges, and encourage the establishment of research and development centers. Additionally, the forum seeks to boost joint investments in education, scientific research, and innovation while activating communication channels between intellectual, educational, and research institutions. These efforts contribute to supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and Saudi Vision 2030. The forum brings together academics, researchers, and decision-makers from both countries to exchange visions, ideas, and expertise while exploring ways to enhance knowledge partnerships across various nationally prioritised fields. The event includes several dialogue sessions focusing on challenges and opportunities in building leading universities in GCC countries, highlighting the role of the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions in supporting education, learning, and smart campuses, as well as cooperation in scientific research and innovation. The forum features participation from nearly 70 Saudi universities, several research centers, and all public and private higher education institutions in Oman.

Oman participates in GCC Higher Education Ministers' meeting

Kuwait: The Sultanate of Oman on Monday took part in the 25th meeting of GCC Ministers of Higher Education and Research, held in the State of Kuwait. Oman's delegation was headed by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. The meeting discussed matters related to enhancing cooperation and integration among GCC states in the fields of higher education, research and innovation. The meeting discussed common systems of higher education, innovation and entrepreneurship. It also dealt with standard methods of teaching and learning in higher education institutions, means of developing community partnerships and related regional and international ties and envisaging future growth in a manner that keeps pace with rapid updates. The meeting also dealt with issues of digital transition and cybersecurity in higher education, upgrading the 'Gulf Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education' and enhancing international cooperation. The meeting reviewed the GCC Secretariat General's proposal to update the structure of committees and teams entrusted with higher education and research.

Sharia Sciences College Board of Trustees holds first meeting of 2025

Muscat —- The Board of Trustees of the Sharia Sciences College held its first meeting for the year 2025 today. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. During the session, the board reviewed the implementation of resolutions from its second meeting in 2024, examined the final financial report for 2024, and approved the 2025 budget. It also endorsed the appointment of an Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs. Additionally, the meeting discussed the report of the college's third conference, approved cooperation programs with several institutions, and ratified a collaboration agreement with Al Bayt University. The board also approved the list of 2024 graduates from the distance learning program.

Muscat: A regional symposium on improving the ranking of Arab universities in international rankings kicked off on Wednesday in Muscat. The two-day event is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. It is held under the auspices of Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. The symposium is organised in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO) and Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. It seeks to promote the academic reputation of Omani universities and consolidate their competitive status at regional and international levels. The symposium provides an opportunity to introduce strategies that align educational institutions' practices with international standards and improve key areas of performance like the quality of academic output, the effectiveness of educational methodologies and the impact of scholarly research.
