VPD traffic stop leads to arrest and gun seizure
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WSAV) – A traffic stop by the Valdosta Police Department (VPD) has led to a narcotics arrest and the seizure of guns. On May 14, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the VPD Crime Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 500 block of East Rogers Street. While speaking with the driver, Eric Emerson Rice, 23, officers observed evidence indicative of the presence of narcotics. As Rice was exiting the vehicle, officers observed a Draco AK-47 style pistol at his feet. Officers secured Rice and the firearm. Inside the vehicle, officers located another pistol that was within Rice's reach, along with over 480 grams of marijuana. Tools and currency that are indicative of narcotics sales were also located in the vehicle. Rice was transported to the Lowndes County Jail. Juvenile arrested in possession of altered automatic weapon
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A juvenile was arrested in Lackawanna County on multiple drug and weapons charges. According to the Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office, a 17-year-old male juvenile. was arrested after allegedly possessing multiple altered automatic weapons and fentanyl. According to District Attorney Brian Gallagher, an undercover law enforcement agent purchased fentanyl from the juvenile's home on the 900 block of Prescott Avenue. The release states that both Glock 9 mm handguns allegedly had been modified to fire as fully automatic weapons with a single pull of the trigger. 'There is an alarming increase in firearm offenses committed by minors, particularly thoseinvolving the illegal modification of semiautomatic weapons into fully automatic firearms usingGlock switches,' said District Attorney Brian J. Gallagher. 'This is not a trend we will are working with our state and federal partners to implement heightened investigativestrategies and will not rest until we remove this threat from our streets and bring this thoseresponsible to justice.' The District Attorney was assisted by Lackawanna County Detectives, Scranton Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office Gun Violence Section. Juvenile arrested for possession of altered automatic weapons, fentanyl
SCRANTON – The Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office announced Saturday that a 17-year-old juvenile male was arrested and charged with possessing multiple dangerous and altered automatic weapons, as well as dealing fentanyl. 'There is an alarming increase in firearm offenses committed by minors, particularly those involving the illegal modification of semiautomatic weapons into fully automatic firearms using Glock switches,' said District Attorney Brian J. Gallagher. 'This is not a trend we will tolerate.' According to Gallagher, after purchasing fentanyl from the juvenile's home in the 900 block Prescott Avenue in Scranton, law enforcement conducted a search warrant and found two Glock handguns loaded with a drum/extended magazine, one Draco AK-47 style firearm with a loaded magazine and a Taurus handgun. Law enforcement also found approximately 300 rounds of ammunition, a quantity of fentanyl pills and a digital scale, Gallagher said in a release. The juvenile was arrested and charged with numerous felony and misdemeanor weapons and drug-related charges. 'This case represents law enforcement's shared mission to investigate, arrest, prosecute, and remove individuals from our community who are harming our neighborhoods with drugs and illegal firearms,' Gallagher said. 'The surge in firearm offenses by minors, especially those involving the illegal conversion of weapons to fully automatic firearms, will be met with unwavering and aggressive law enforcement action.' Gallagher applauded the collaborative efforts of Lackawanna County Detectives, Scranton Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Vice Unit, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office Gun Violence Section. Following his arrest, the juvenile was incarcerated at a juvenile detention facility. The District Attorney's Office does not identify juvenile defendants in accordance with the law.

16-year-old, his father among 3 charged in fatal Frostproof shooting: PCSO
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd will discuss the details of an arrest connected to a fatal shooting in Frostproof in a news conference Tuesday. A 16-year-old was identified as the second suspect in the Sunday shooting and is charged with first-degree murder. VIDEO: Fishermen spot pair of whales off Pinellas County coast On Monday, Judd described the teenager as an accomplice to the 15-year-old suspect charged with first-degree murder and attempted robbery. The 16-year-old's father is charged with accessory to murder and tampering with evidence. The shooting happened on Washington Terrace just after 5 p.m. on Sunday. Judd said the 16-year-old discussed buying marijuana with the 22-year-old victim before the incident. The victim went to a home, where the 16-year-old pulled out a gun and shot him, according to Judd. Judd said the victim tried to return fire before his car drifted down half a block, where deputies found him dead, with marijuana in his hand. Both teenagers fled the area. PCSO is requesting the state attorney's office charge the teenage suspects as adults. The sheriff's office is offering a $5,000 reward for the recovery of the Draco AK-47 used in the shooting.
