3 charged in drug trafficking investigations in Drayton Valley

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Jason Franson RCMP said community response teams helped with the arrest of three people accused of drug trafficking in the Drayton Valley area. The arrests were made during two separate investigations in the first week of June. On June 3, a 36-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, both Drayton Valley residents, were arrested after a home at the Poplar Ridge Trailer Court was searched and RCMP seized 60 grams of methamphetamine, brass knuckles and $840 in cash. The man's charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of breaking a release order and possession of a dangerous, prohibited weapon. He was remanded into custody. The woman was charged with breaching probation and possession for the purpose of trafficking. She was released on conditions and is expected to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on July 15; the man is scheduled to appear there on June 17. RCMP said they made another arrest on June 5 as a result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation that led to the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cash and brass knuckles. A 39-year-old man from Drayton Valley was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and possession of proceeds of crime. He was released on condition and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice on July 15.

Storms heading toward Edmonton
Edmonton and area is under a severe thunderstorm watch as of 3:20 p.m., while areas between Drayton Valley and Rimbey are under a severe thunderstorm warning. Edmonton area radar The main threat from the severe storms is the possibility for toonie-sized hail and potentially damaging wind gusts, as well as heavy rain and frequent lightning. The storms are moving northeast at approximately 50 km/h. They should move into the Edmonton area between 5 and 6 p.m., although it remains to be seen whether they will weaken or remain severe as they move through the Edmonton region. Aggravated assault charges laid in road rage crash southwest of Edmonton: police
An RCMP cruiser can be seen in this file photo. (David Prisciak/CTV News) A Drayton Valley man has been charged in a crash that police are calling a road rage incident. Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 22 on the south side of Drayton Valley at 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Mounties say the vehicles were travelling east when the crash happened and one rolled into the westbound ditch. The driver of the vehicle in the ditch was extracted and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 55-year-old driver of the other vehicle was arrested and charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and aggravated assault. He has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in Drayton Valley on June 17. The highway was partially closed for several hours while police investigated.
