Seahawks rookie QB Jalen Milroe flashes dual-threat ability in preseason Week 1
Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Drew Lock got the start in Thursday's 23-23 preseason Week 1 tie with the Las Vegas Raiders. Lock played the entire first half, completing 12-of-22 passing attempts for 147 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The fireworks arrived in the second half, when Seattle inserted rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe into the game. A raw but talented quarterback coming out of Alabama, the full range of Milroe's dual-threat capabilities were on display. The third round (No. 92 overall) signal-caller completed 6-of-10 passes for 61 yards. Milroe also scrambled three times for 38 rushing yards, including an explosive ground-gain of 27. As raw as Milroe is as a passer, at least one of his passing completions was an eye-opener. The former Crimson Tide standout rolled to his right, running away from two Raiders defenders to complete a throw in-between the coverage to Tyrone Broden Jr. for a 15-yard gain. It offered a peak into his upside. Milroe's 27-yard scramble was equally as impressive. It occurred with the offense facing a second-and-12 from inside their own five-yard line. That's typically no-man's land for a preseason offense, but Milroe faked a handoff and won the corner for a chain-moving run that got the Seahawks offense moving. Milroe went through some ups-and-downs. His final five dropbacks included one completion, a fourth-down incompletion and a sack, as noted by ESPN's Brady Henderson. Ultimately, Milroe was as advertised in his official NFL debut. The Seahawks have an exciting, athletic rookie quarterback worth developing. Seahawks rookie WR Tory Horton meets expectations in preseason Week 1
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tory Horton was among the most hyped-up rookies heading into Thursday's 23-23 Week 1 preseason tie with the Las Vegas Raiders. Horton played extensively, recording a team-high three receptions for 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. The former Colorado State standout fully met expectations. Horton's touchdown occurred during the second quarter. The Seahawks were facing a third-and-6 in the red-zone from Vegas' 10-yard line. Backup quarterback Drew Lock took the snap and quickly identified a wide-open Horton who found a sliver of space in-between two Raiders defenders. Horton then finished the play strong by breaking an arm-tackle to get into the end zone. The Seahawks' quarterbacks looked for Horton early and often. The rookie fifth-round selection saw a game-high seven targets. No other Seahawks receiver had more than three targets. Horton played 29 total snaps as a receiver, and an additional two via punt return duty. Horton has been generating significant buzz at Seahawks training camp. On Thursday, you saw the first-year performer carry that momentum over to his official NFL debut. Horton will continue pushing Marquez Valdes-Scantling for the WR3 role behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. The hype train has officially left the station. Jalen Milroe Surges Past Former NFL Starter on First Seattle Seahawks Depth Chart
Jalen Milroe Surges Past Former NFL Starter on First Seattle Seahawks Depth Chart originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Despite being viewed as a potential first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, former Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe ended up sliding into the third round. The 22-year-old who was the starter for Alabama for two seasons was selected with the No. 92 pick by the Seattle Seahawks. Although every player's dream is to go in the first round, Milroe likely couldn't have gone to a better situation. There is virtually no pressure on him as the Seahawks signed former Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Sam Darnold, to a three-year, $100.5 million contract this offseason, and also have Drew Lock, who has started 28 career games on the roster as well. However, based on ESPN's initial depth chart, Milroe may be climbing the depth chart sooner than most expected. Seattle Seahawks Depth Chart As reported by ESPN, the Seahawks depth chart goes as follows: QB1: Sam Darnold QB2 Jalen Milroe QB3 Drew Lock If this truly ends up being the case, Milroe has taken major strides following his final season at Alabama. During his final year in Tuscaloosa, Milroe was criticized heavily for forcing passes into windows that weren't there after being late on reads. In his final season at Alabama, Milroe threw a career-high 11 interceptions to just 16 touchdowns, an increase of five more interceptions than he threw in 2023. Although training camp is still ongoing and the preseason games have yet to be played, clearly, Milroe is finding some success in the pacific story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Seahawks QB accidentally jinxed into throwing pick by broadcaster
Former Seattle Seahawks player and current broadcast analyst Michael Robinson accidentally jinxed quarterback Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock during the latter's 2025 home preseason opener on Thursday night. As Lock took starting snaps for Seattle in the preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Robinson mentioned on the game broadcast that a benefit to playing Lock was that he was "just not going to put the ball in harm's way." The point was valid in the sense that Lock gave the Seahawks a steady veteran to guide its second-team offense during early preseason snaps in a way a younger player couldn't. However, Robinson didn't do Lock any favors as the veteran quarterback threw an interception just a couple of plays after the broadcaster's comment. Whoops! Well, it happens. Lock isn't immune to throwing picks, even in preseason competition. Robinson will probably get a good laugh out of this once he reflects on his accidental jinxing of his former team's quarterback. When did Michael Robinson play for the Seahawks? Robinson played fullback for Seattle from 2010-13. Seahawks trade prediction cuts ties with Drew Lock for $9 million former starting quarterback
The Seattle Seahawks completely revamped their quarterback room this offseason, but one NFL analyst doesn't believe the team is done making changes to the position group. Jordan OMalley predicts the Seahawks will trade for Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis ahead of training camp, which would make it difficult for Drew Lock to make the roster. Advertisement "Seattle's QB depth behind Geno Smith is thin, and Levis fits the mold as a developmental backup with upside. Tennessee could recoup a mid-round pick and fully reset at quarterback," OMalley wrote. Levis struggled in 2024 as Tennessee's starting quarterback, and with the selection of Cam Ward at No.1 overall in April, the Kentucky product no longer has a long-term future with the Titans. Trading Levis and going all-in on the Ward era would be a logical move from Tennessee. The team hasn't actively involved the 26-year-old in trade discussions this offseason, but that could change if the right offer comes to the table. Though Levis is a below-average starting quarterback, he could serve as a solid backup. Seattle already has a crowded quarterback room with Sam Darnold, Jalen Milroe, and Lock. However, Levis could provide some extra competition for Milroe and Lock, and potentially snag the backup spot behind Darnold. Advertisement Levis will likely remain with the Titans going into training camp. But a trade before the season is possible, and the Seahawks could be a potential suitor based on Milroe and Lock's performances in camp.
