Browns QB Joe Flacco insists he's not a mentor at OTAs
The Cleveland Browns have a crowded quarterback room. While the group tries to tiptoe around the fact, they end up stepping on each other's toes. The veteran in the room, Joe Flacco, was the latest to stumble through an interview. Flacco spoke to the media after the second day of OTAs. Flacco was asked to elaborate on his least favorite question: his role as a mentor for rookie quarterbacks. He gave a long and thoughtful answer. Flacco draws issue with how the question is phrased. He believes it can be divisive and used for clickbait. At every stop, Flacco has been adamant that it's not his role, or the role of the backup quarterback, to mentor a rookie. He believes they help rookies prepare for the NFL, they're not holding their hand and walking them through every concept. Flacco has been haunted by the question since the Baltimore Ravens drafted Lamar Jackson in 2018. Flacco faced the question in Denver with Drew Lock, in New York with Zach Wilson, in Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts, and in Indianapolis with Anthony Richardson. He's worked with a lot of young quarterbacks in the recent past, and they've all publicly appreciated the guidance he's provided. Advertisement Flacco has his priorities in the correct order. He's going to be battling for the Browns' starting job. He's the team's best hope for a capable offense. Flacco needs to focus on the team, not the rookies. Way-too-early Seahawks 53-man roster projection: offense
Way-too-early Seahawks 53-man roster projection: offense The Seattle Seahawks will begin their first of nine Organized Team Activities (OTA) practices on Tuesday. Though this portion of the offseason remains voluntary, roster battles will begin taking shape. With the Seahawks officially on the practice field, we've delivered our way-too-early 53-man roster projection for the offense. Quarterbacks (3): Sam Darnold, Drew Lock, Jalen Milroe The Seahawks are one of few teams that should carry three quarterbacks. They signed Drew Lock to be the veteran backup to Sam Darnold. Rookie third-round pick Jalen Milroe will be afforded an opportunity to slowly develop behind the scenes. Running backs (4): Kenneth Walker III, Zach Charbonnet, Robbie Ouzts, Damien Martinez The need for a fullback in Klint Kubiak's offense will probably prevent the Seahawks from keeping more than three natural running backs. Damien Martinez, Kenny McIntosh, and George Holani will compete for one spot. Rookie fifth-rounder Robbie Ouzts is the favorite to be the fullback. Wide receivers (6): Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Tory Horton, Jake Bobo, Ricky White III The Seahawks could go even lighter here with five wide receivers. If so, Jake Bobo and rookie draft-pick Ricky White III would compete with a slew of back-end players for the final gig. Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp are expected to do heavy lifting at wide receiver. Tight ends (3): Noah Fant, Elijah Arroyo, AJ Barner Noah Fant, Elijah Arroyo, and AJ Barner project as a solid trio at tight end. Brady Russell is converting to fullback and will battle Ouzts for the backfield blocking role. Fant, Arroyo, and Barner should make-up a high quality TE room in Seattle. Offensive line (9): Charles Cross, Grey Zabel, Olu Oluwatimi, Christian Haynes, Abraham Lucas, Josh Jones, Jalen Sundell, Bryce Cabeldue, Mason Richman There's plenty of competition for offensive line spots. This projection leaves guards Anthony Bradford and Sataoa Laumea off the roster. That means both rookies, Mason Richman and Bryce Cabeldue, make it. Veteran free-agent addition Josh Jones is the swing tackle in this scenario.

Giants rookie QB refuses to pay teammate for jersey number: 'It's too much'
It's common in the NFL for players who are commonly associated with one particular playing number to be forced to either make a deal or pay off any player currently on the roster that wears the same digit. For New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, the No. 2 he wore while in college is currently occupied by one of his new teammates - Deonte Banks. Banks, a second-year cornerback, is wearing that number after previously making another switch. When the Giants signed quarterback Russell Wilson, the incoming Super Bowl-champion made a deal with Banks to get his No. 3. After that, Banks made the move to No. 2 - which Dart later wanted off of him. But, speaking to Cllct Media, Dart says his pursuit of his college number is off after he heard the 'price tag' that Banks placed on it. 'Yeah, it's too much,' Dart said while laughing. 'Too much.' Adding to Dart's unfortunate luck, the only reason No. 2 is available is because quarterback Drew Lock is not with the Giants anymore - leading Banks to pick the vacant number. As a result, Dart has been seen in practices wearing the number 6 instead. Not even Dart knows if that will be the final number he puts on his jersey. 'I think we'll come to a final decision here soon,' Dart said. 'Quite honestly, I kind of have to just look at the pictures to see if I like myself in No. 6.' While Dart has not officially signed his rookie deal, he is expected to ink a four-year, $16.9million deal - with a $9m signing bonus.

Seahawks OTA practices begin on Tuesday
Seahawks OTA practices begin on Tuesday The Seattle Seahawks' offseason continues this week, as the first of their nine Organized Team Activities (OTA) practices will begin on Tuesday. These practices are voluntary. What is not voluntary, however, will be Seattle's three-day minicamp at the end of June, which will start on the 17th and conclude on the 19th. Here are the following dates for the Seahawks' OTA sessions: May 27th May 29th-30th June 2nd June 4th-5th June 9th June 11th-12th While these are technically classified as voluntary, it's hard to imagine many members of the team won't be in attendance. I'm sure we will see quarterbacks Sam Darnold, Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe, as well as wide receiver Cooper Kupp. The Seahawks are undergoing several massive changes offensively by virtue of bringing in an entirely new offensive staff. Klint Kubiak is brand new in the Emerald City and it's going to take some time to install his system. Now, it helps that Sam Darnold is familiar with Kubiak, as the two spent time together for one season in San Francisco. Still, Darnold will need time to re-familiarize himself with it, as well as develop further chemistry with Kupp, JSN, MVS, Jake Bobo and rookie receivers Tory Horton and Ricky White III. Needless to say, the new Seahawks are going to need all the time they can get to be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season.
