Workwear meets fashion: Carhartt WIP launches Paris pop-up spotlighting iconic 'Heart' logo
Carhartt WIP, the lifestyle-driven European offshoot of American workwear brand Carhartt, has opened a limited-time pop-up inside Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées in Paris. Located on the first floor, the space will remain open through June 30, offering visitors a bold visual showcase centered around the brand's distinctive 'Heart' logo. The pop-up highlights a modern reinterpretation of Carhartt's original branding from the 1920s, bringing the 'Heart' emblem to life through a curated selection of styles from the Spring/Summer 2025 and Pre-Fall 2025 collections. The logo appears across a range of pieces in the Drewe, Furoshiki, Arcan, and Heart II Hartt lines. Designed as an immersive experience, the space incorporates industrial elements such as aluminum structures, red canvas, and custom-printed carpeting—echoing the brand's signature utilitarian aesthetic. This initiative is part of Carhartt WIP's global retail expansion strategy. The brand recently debuted a hybrid café-store concept in New York at Nordstrom, combining branded design with a dedicated coffee bar under the WIP name. In Munich, it opened a second store in the city's Glockenbachviertel district—a 120-square-meter space featuring interiors inspired by traditional Bavarian architecture. Meanwhile, several Carhartt WIP stores in France have been redesigned to reflect a more premium retail concept aligned with the label's evolving identity. While many fashion brands navigate an unpredictable market, Carhartt WIP has quietly emerged as a rare example of consistent growth. Its success reflects a clear, long-term strategy to evolve the American workwear legacy into a modern, lifestyle-driven brand with global appeal. The brand is operated by Work in Progress, founded in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, which holds the exclusive global license to develop Carhartt outside the United States. Carhartt WIP first gained momentum in Europe by reimagining classic workwear through a street-culture lens—drawing from hip-hop, rock, and skateboarding. Since then, it has teamed up with high-end labels such as Sacai, Junya Watanabe, and A.P.C., while growing a global retail network of more than 100 stores across Europe, Asia, and the United States. Carhartt WIP has moved into a significantly larger headquarters in Paris' 10th arrondissement as part of its continued growth. The new space reflects the brand's identity—located near Place de la Bastille, an area long associated with music and skate culture in the French capital. The company is now led by Wilfried Atzert, a long-time executive who has been with the brand for over 20 years and has played a key role in every stage of its expansion.

Don't Book a Hotel at These Times (and 4 Money-Saving Reasons Why)
Timing is everything, especially when it comes to booking a hotel. Certain times of the month and year are pricier than others, and knowing when not to book can save you some cash. 'Hotel pricing is subject to fluctuations and is significantly influenced by immediate demand, reservation trends and local happenings,' explained Nick Drewe, CEO and money-saving expert at online discount platform Wethrift. 'It operates similarly to airline fare structures, where algorithms modify prices on a daily or even hourly basis.' Before you reserve your accommodations, make sure you're not booking during these times. Read Next: Check Out: Booking a hotel room at the last minute can potentially save you money, but this isn't always the case. Colleen Carswell, former hotel director of sales and current hotel solutions strategist, told HerMoney that it all comes down to supply and demand. If supply exceeds demand and the hotel needs to fill rooms, then prices may be lower. However, if there's a big event in the area and demand for hotel rooms is high and supply is low, you could pay more. Instead: Book early and keep tabs on prices online. 'I would always advise booking in advance,' Tim Hentschel, CEO and founder of Hotel Planner, recommended. 'You will then have a wider choice of dates, hotels, departure airports and destinations to select from.' See More: Peak season is a period during the year when there's more demand, which can lead to higher prices. 'Plan on paying more during peak holiday periods and major local events,' Drewe said. 'It can be tough to find a good deal around New Year's, Fourth of July or large festivals and events, which means significant markup driven by demand and limited availability.' Instead: Hentschel recommends booking a hotel in the shoulder season when there's less demand. For example, if you're traveling to Europe, he says you may get a better deal in May or September. According to Drewe, business travel and personal trips tend to spike in the first week of each month and may lead to higher hotel room prices. Instead: 'Second and third weeks of the month, especially during shoulder seasons like late spring or early fall, tend to offer the best value as well when it comes to booking,' Drewe explained. 'Families fly less during school terms, and business travel is more predictable, so prices typically stabilize or drop.' Fridays and Saturdays are often the most expensive, especially in high-demand weekend getaway areas, Drewe said. But if you need to book on one of these days, Hentschel encourages travelers to book during non-peak hours like 6 a.m. or midnight. Instead: Hentschel recommends booking on a Tuesday if you want to get the best deal. 'Most often, the pricing teams for hotels and tour operators meet on a Monday to review what's sold well over the weekend. Then on Tuesday morning, they'll update their systems and websites with deals and offers to increase bookings to hotels and destinations where they have more availability,' he explained. 'Booking on a Tuesday can drive savings of around 5%-8% for international travel when compared to the higher price points later in the week.' Shopping Experts: 5 Best Budget Tech Items at Costco in 2025
Costco has long been a destination for butter in bulk and giant bundles of socks, but you might not think of it as a tech wonderland. Well, surprise, it's the perfect spot for budget-conscious tech shoppers — offering extended warranties and member-exclusive pricing on quality gadgets. Explore More: Read Next: But with so many options available, what items truly deliver in 2025? GOBankingRates asked shopping experts to share their top Costco tech recommendations for budget-minded consumers this year. Price: $499.99 This student-friendly laptop, featuring a Ryzen 5 processor, is a fabulous deal at under $500. 'This is perfect for remote workers and students,' said Nick Drewe, CEO of savings platform Wethrift. 'The extended warranty protection Costco offers makes this an even better value compared to similar models elsewhere.' Find Out: Price: $349.97 Apple products rarely come with budget-friendly price tags, making this iPad a standout deal. 'At $349, this is already a steal for an Apple product,' Drewe said. 'It's ideal for entertainment, browsing and casual gaming. Look for the bundles that include accessories for even better value.' The tablet's versatility makes it perfect for both productivity and entertainment, with enough power to handle most everyday tasks. Price: $349.99 Not only are TVs getting better, but they're also getting less expensive. This TCL model offers premium features at a fantastic price. 'TCL has established itself as a trusted brand for value-conscious shoppers,' Drewe explained. 'This model, available for around $350-$400, includes built-in Roku or Google TV capabilities, making it a perfect choice for a budget-friendly home theater upgrade.' Price: $149.97 Home security doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, and this DIY security system proves it. 'An affordable home security solution that can be installed on your own, saving installation fees,' Drewe said. 'A similar package can cost $50 to $75 more at other retailers.' Price: $169.99 These earbuds are the best of the best — active noise cancellation, water resistance and impeccable sound quality. The extended battery life makes them an easy purchase, especially if you like to walk and talk or listen to your favorite songs at the gym. Before rushing to grab these deals, financial therapist Lindsay Bryan-Podvin of Mind Money Balance recommended taking inventory of what you already own. 'It's OK to buy new tech if you use it frequently and it needs to be updated,' she said. 'It's less helpful to buy new tech because you think you'll use it.' Bryan-Podvin suggested asking yourself three key questions before making any purchase: How often do you use this type of item? If rarely, even a good deal isn't worth it. Is your current device working? If yes, you probably don't need an upgrade yet. Could a simple fix or software update solve your issues instead of a full replacement? 'Too many of us think that if we had the latest fill-in-the-blank item, we'd become the type of person who uses fill-in-the-blank. Our unused tech items tell us otherwise,' she explained. By combining these mindful shopping strategies with Costco's already competitive pricing, you'll be sure your tech dollars stretch further in 2025. Editor's note: Pricing and availability may vary depending on location. People Are Just Realising Why So Many 24-Hour Supermarkets Disappeared, And Huh
When I first moved to the UK, I landed in Southend and ended up walking a confusing, way-too-long route to that British institution, Big Tesco. It was 4am. I could not believe such a place was open. I walked around its shiny lino floors, marvelling at the stringy bikinis hanging from plastic hangers ― what a mad country!, I thought, where you can buy beachwear after a night out! I don't know if that particular Tesco is still a 24-hour one (I guess its proximity to an airport might make it an exception), but it seems shops like it have declined since. Shoppers have noticed, too: 'What happened to 24-hour supermarkets?' a Redditor asked the members of r/AskUK. So, I thought I'd ask Nick Drew, CEO and consumer trends expert at Wethrift, and Joosep Seitam, e-commerce expert and co-founder of Icecartel, what was going on. 'The pandemic has reshaped the manner in which customers shop,' Drewe told us. 'All but a few no longer want to shop odd hours of the night... and the need to venture out and shop at early morning hours has decreased' as work trends have shifted. Then, there's the internet to consider. 'With next-day or even same-day delivery options like Amazon Fresh or Tesco Deliveries, individuals no longer need to venture out at 2 am for milk,' Seitam said. 'Online platforms handle what used to be impulse buys, so 24-hour stores are no longer required.' Mostly, both experts agree, it boils down to the bottom line. 'Having a store open 24/7 [though in the UK they have to limit their hours on Sunday] increases the need for labour, security, and energy expenses,' Drewe added. 'Without someone who is making nighttime or early-morning purchases, you cannot have sales to offset the cost.' Indeed Tesco's ex-chief executive Dave Lewis told the Financial Time Future Forum in 2021 that their huge 24-hour stores 'sell very little during the night.' And 'there's the challenge of restocking and cleaning when customers are still walking through the aisles' to think about too, Seitam shared. Logical as the reduced hours might be, many of us miss a 3am mosey 'round a Big Tesco's homewares aisle. The 24-hour feature 'used to be a late-night lifesaver,' Redditor u/tirerunona wrote. 'Now it's all 6am to midnight.' 'I miss 24-hour supermarkets too,' u/Big-Scallion3644 commented. 'The Tesco in my town used to be open 24 hours a day. I would go in there after a night shift and there would be a few staff stocking the shelves, get my shopping and be one of the only customers. I remember having to find someone to put my shopping through the till.' Another site user was less sentimental: 'Here we have fuck all choice post-midnight,' u/Berookes said.
