Dubai Police has announced that more than 1,500 players from various nationalities, including international participants, will take part in the fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament. Scheduled from 14 to 17 August at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf, the event will feature a prize pool of AED 200,000. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Cycling Hub in the Dubai Police Officers Club. The briefing was attended by Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director of the Cybercrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation; Rashid Mohammed Abdullah, Head of Events Planning and Execution at the Dubai Sports Council; Mona Al Falasi, Director of Esports and Strategy at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; along with professional players including Shaima Al Mansouri, Dr. Arshiya Farghath, and Lady Lillith. Major Al Shehhi said the tournament reflects Dubai Police's commitment to enhancing community awareness in the digital field while aligning with strategic goals to improve safety and security. He highlighted the growing popularity of esports among youth and the need to promote balanced gaming habits, caution when interacting online, and awareness of cybercrimes linked to gaming. The event also aims to raise awareness of cyber fraud, online extortion, and the importance of protecting personal data during in-game interactions. Participants will be informed about dedicated police services for reporting cybercrimes, including the 'Ecrime' platform and the online awareness portal available at . Up to Dh200,000 prize: Dubai Police announce fifth edition of Esports tournament
Calling all Esports enthusiasts! The fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament will take place from August 14 to 17, 2025 — and participants can win from a cash prize pool of up to Dh200,000. The authority has released a rulebook for the tournament, outlining guidelines about eligibility, registration, teams, prizes, and more for seven games: Valorant, Counter Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Dota 2, EAFC25, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and GameJam. The amount of prize money players can receive depends on the game. Valorant and Counter Strike 2 have the highest prize pools of Dh40,000 each, which will be distributed among three winning teams. Super Smash Bros Ultimate and GameJam have the lowest prize pools of Dh10,000 each to be distributed among the winners. Participants will have to be on their best behaviour as well. The rulebook features an extensive code of conduct which includes acts that could get players disqualified, such as breaking controllers, abusing the in-game pause and cutting the power. The tournament, which boasts "high-stakes competitions and intense challenges", is open to both male and female players from the ages of 10 to 35, according to WAM. It will be held at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf.
