Dubai Community Contributions Establishment (JOOD) has taken a significant step toward shaping the future of humanitarian efforts in the emirate, hosting its inaugural JOOD Retreat to align public and private sector roles under a unified vision of giving. Held in line with Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the UAE's Year of Community, the retreat brought together leaders from government, business, and the non-profit sector to build a comprehensive roadmap for community contributions. The event focused on redefining how social impact is delivered, measured, and sustained. Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority, highlighted the retreat as a strategic move to build a future-ready, inclusive model of social giving rooted in Dubai's values. 'We are creating a model that extends beyond money—it includes time, knowledge, and skills,' she said. Dr. Ahmed Tahlak of Tarahum Charity Foundation called for clear metrics to assess social and economic impact, while education philanthropist Sunny Varkey emphasised the importance of contribution over achievement, praising Dubai's commitment to humanitarian excellence. Structured around four pillars—sustainability, engagement, impact, and innovation—the retreat featured thematic dialogues, workshops, and real-life storytelling sessions. Discussions explored how to scale impact through digital tools, cross-sector collaboration, and innovative partnerships. Key outcomes included the adoption of a unified framework for social responsibility across sectors and a strategy for managing financial and non-financial resources to achieve long-term, measurable outcomes. Dubai Community Development Authority Signs Agreement to Empower People of Determination
Dubai's Community Development Authority (CDA) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Maseer Initiatives, aiming to enhance inclusion and community engagement for People of Determination through cultural and awareness-driven programmes. The agreement, signed in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of People of Determination, focuses on strengthening institutional partnerships to foster empowerment and social cohesion. Her Excellency Maitha Mohammed Al Shamsi, CEO of the Social Empowerment Sector at CDA, and Her Excellency Budoor Saeed Al Raqbani, Director General of Maseer Initiatives, formalised the partnership in a ceremony attended by representatives from various government and community bodies. Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of CDA, said the partnership aligns with the goals of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which prioritises the inclusion of all social groups. 'This collaboration represents a powerful model for community empowerment,' she noted. Dubai is shaping a healthcare ecosystem that places people at its heart – one that is innovative, inclusive, and deeply human-centred, said Dr Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU). He attributed the remarkable progress of Dubai's health sector to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. These insights were shared during a media briefing hosted by the Government of Dubai Media Office as part of its 'Meet the CEO' series. The event was attended by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, along with a group of senior media leaders and editors-in-chief from leading UAE newspapers. Dr Amer Sharif highlighted healthcare progress in Dubai from its early beginnings in the 1940s, culminating in the creation of its first integrated academic health system under Law No. 13 (2021). He also noted the adoption of the Integrated Physician Practice model across all facilities to enhance patient safety, reduce wait times, and improve clinical care management, aligning with Dubai's vision and the Dubai Social Agenda 33 for a sustainable, human-centred system. Dr Sharif detailed Dubai Health's vision, mission, and strategic programmes to establish global benchmarks in evidence-based care. He introduced the 'Dubai Health' brand identity, drawing on Dubai's heritage and symbolised by arches welcoming all. The central arch signifies Care, flanked by Learning and Discovery, all underpinned by Giving. Dr Sharif reiterated Dubai Health's commitment to strengthening community partnerships by involving patients and the public in shaping healthcare services. Key initiatives include 'Dubai Health Majalis: Voice of the Community' and the Press Ganey programme, which captures insights across every stage of the patient journey to enhance care quality and patient experience.
