Ministers inspect arrangements ahead of CM's visit to Thanjavur
Trichy: State municipal administration minister K N Nehru and higher education minister Govi Chezhian visited Thanjavur on Friday and inspected the arrangements ahead of chief minister
M K Stalin
's visit to the district on June 15 and 16.
Nehru and Chezhian inspected the Grand Anicut barrage (Kallanai), where the chief minister is expected to release the waters for irrigation for the kuruvai crop in the delta districts. The ministers saw the painting and the minor renovation works at the Kallanai barrage.
Stalin is also anticipated to lead a road show in the town and unveil a new life-size statue of former chief minister M Karunanidhi near the old bus stand.
Thanjavur district collector B Priyanka Pankajam, central region inspector general of police Joshi Nirmal Kumar, Thanjavur superintendent of police R Rajaram, Thiruvaiyaru MLA Durai Chandrasekaran, WRD chief engineer R Dhayalakumar, and other senior officials were present. They discussed elaborately to finalize the itinerary and arrangements for Stalin's visit.
The chief minister is also expected to participate in a govt event at Raja Serfoji Govt College near new bus stand on Monday and distribute welfare aid worth crores to several beneficiaries.
Stalin is also likely to participate as the chief guest at the family event of DMK's Thanjavur central district secretary Durai Chandrasekaran. A meeting with DMK's senior functionaries and party cadres in Thanjavur is also planned.
