'Double in size': Beer brewers hop to meet demand in trade war
It's been a busy few weeks for the Brothers Beer Brewery in Auckland, making and packing as much beer as they can — to send to China. "Our last China order is literally double in size," manager Dylan Adams told 1News. "It's gone from one 40ft container to two and, you know, we get those orders pretty regularly." New Zealand boutique beer brands are taking a glass half full approach and tapping into chances with China. (Source: 1News) The US was a big export competitor for beer makers here, but the price of American products has skyrocketed because of the recent tariff stand-off. Now, China — the world's biggest beer market — wants more of our product. "They love big, hoppy beer; they love really high alcohol beer; and they love craft beer," Adams said. Other local brewers were also bottling along, such as Three Sisters in Taranaki. "The most recent order's about 20,000 cans that we'll be sending over next month, and also along with about 300 kegs as well," said founder Joe Emans. He knew of around a dozen other Kiwi craft breweries that also exported to China and he expected they'd be benefitting as well. Although the US and China were rolling back their tariffs, for 90 days at least, brewers here were hoping orders remained strong. "I actually had a discussion with the distributor yesterday", Emans said. "They were saying the uncertainty means they've got to make a plan, right? So let's back New Zealand beer." Adams said any long term impacts remain to be seen, but added the demand couldn't have come at a better time, with many in the sector struggling with sales. "Probably from about February, March last year, they took quite a nose dive for all craft beer producers."

The Block 'biggest losers' Dylan Adams and Jenny Heath bounce back with latest renovation project
Block stars Dylan Adams and Jenny Heath have turned to their next renovation project. The couple were left heartbroken in 2022 when they walked away empty handed after their house failed to attract interest at auction. To add insult to injury, the Gisborne property remained on the market of almost six months, eventually selling for $180,000 less than the reserve at $3.9million. Also, the Palm Beach property they began renovating before their Block appearance failed to sell in 2023. Unperturbed, the reality renovators have turned to their next 'fixer-upper' - a '90s-era holiday pad in Coolangatta. The couple recently picked up the two-bedroom apartment for $920,000, which, in a reversal of fortune, was cheaper than the suburb's median unit price of $1.05million. Speaking to the Gold Coast Bulletin, the couple said they were planning to bring a 'modern Mediterranean aesthetic' to the property. 'Since wrapping up our Palm House build, we've been itching to take on another project - but client work has kept up busy,' the couple said. The couple have big plans for the 176-square-metre space, including replacing the kitchen's yellow and blue cabinets with Taj Mahal stonework, adding custom-designed rangehoods and modern lighting. They also plan to create a flowing atmosphere, connecting internal and external living areas via French doors. Multiple outdoor zones will be created, including a freestanding pergola with feature rafters. It comes after the reality stars welcomed a baby boy, sharing the news to Instagram. Another snap showed Jenny in the hospital bed pre-birth, while a third photo was taken of Dylan and Jenny touching Billy for the first time just after birth. 'HELLO WORLD I'M HERE. Billy Heath Adams. 24.07.24,' the caption read. 'I'm a happy healthy bubba, mum's recovering well, dad's taking care of us.' The Block favourites first shared the good news they were expecting a baby back in January. 'We've been keeping a little secret... Baby Adams due July,' they wrote on Instagram alongside some images of the pair. The photos showed the smitten couple cuddling on a beach as they showed off their ultrasound image. The pair exchanged vows at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast in March last year, sharing a series of wedding photos to Instagram. The couple were left heartbroken in 2022 when they walked away empty handed after their house failed to attract interest at auction The opulent ceremony was attended by 150 guests including their former co-stars Ankur Dogra and Sharon Johal, Rachel and Ryan Carr, and Tom Calleja and Sarah-Jane Wilson. The couple finally sold their Block home in February last year - three months after it failed to sell at the televised auction. The Gisborne property found a buyer in a private sale and mystery surrounds its sale price or whether it reached its original $4.08million reserve. Adams and Heath took to Instagram at the time to reflect on the sale while sharing a photo of themselves smiling on their verandah.

Tim Walz employee who allegedly caused over $20K in damages to Teslas let off by woke Minnesota DA — as cops slam deal
A progressive district attorney has declined to charge a Tim Walz state employee allegedly caught causing $20,000 damage by vandalizing half a dozen Teslas — a decision ripped by the 'frustrated' local police chief. The suspected vandal, 33-year-old Minnesota government employee Dylan Bryan Adams, was allegedly spotted keying the vehicles and stripping their paint off while out walking his dog around the city. Despite what police believe to be evidence of Adams committing felonies, Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty will seek diversion rather than criminal charges. 3 A man caught on camera causing thousands of dollars in damages to at least six Tesla vehicles in Minneapolis. 3 Dylan Adams, who works for the Minnesota Department of Human Services, is accused of causing damage to several Tesla vehicles. Hennepin County Sheriff's Office 'This is an approach taken in many property crime cases and helps to ensure the individual keeps their job and can pay restitution, as well as reducing the likelihood of repeat offenses,' the attorney's office said in a statement, CBS News reported. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said at the time of the incident that the damages in each case was the equivalent of a felony. The chief said in a scathing statement on Monday that Moriarty's decision not bringing charges is frustrating for his officers and the public. 'The Minneapolis Police Department did its job. It identified and investigated a crime trend, identified, and arrested a suspect, and presented a case file to the Hennepin County Attorney Office for consideration of charges,' he told KARE in a statement. 'This case impacted at least six different victims and totaled over $20,000 in damages. Any frustration related to the charging decision of the Hennepin County Attorney should be directed solely at her office. 3 A man who police say is Dylan Adams is caught on vehicle surveillance vandalizing a Tesla. FOX 9 via Minneapolis Police 'Our investigators are always frustrated when the cases they poured their hearts into are declined. In my experience, the victims in these cases often feel the same,' O'Hara said in a statement. Moriarty has been Hennepin County's top prosecutor since Jan. 2023, but quickly came under fire for her woke policies that allowed accused rapists and killers to stay free. During her very first week in office, she dropped the charges against a 35-year-old man accused of raping a teen girl due to attorney misconduct, CBS News reported at the time.
