The award-nominated, immersive whisky tasting is ideal for those looking for something a bit different when visiting Edinburgh. Performed by Alan Anderson, this is a five-star show about whisky and comedy. Expect whiskies, history, methodology and lore along with a lot of laughs. The world-class Science Centre and Planetarium takes visitors on a journey through space and time to reveal how planet Earth came to be. And now it had been named as the top attraction for children after being listed as the best thing to do in Scotland with kids. Experts at compiled the list after revealing that Scotland is one of the best places to visit for families. They considered fun places that combine education with excitement to find the best standout family attractions. The final list had everything from hands-on science adventures to wildlife encounters and optical trickery. Kids can explore Earth's past, present, and future — complete with a tropical rainforest, an icy glacier, and even a simulated space launch Experts at And the experts say they are perfect for creating memories that last long after the holiday ends. Coming in at the number one spot is Dynamic Earth, which sits near the Scottish Parliament. Not only does it have a massive full-dome, 6K planetarium, but there is also a range of different interactive exhibits. These include the Polar Extremes and Tropical Rainforest exhibits, which teach youngsters about the animals that live there. One person said: "Fabulous experience! Love how everything can be touched and how they encourage the visitors to be fully immersed in the experience... The kids loved it and the adults too! So educational, fun, inclusive and encouraging. I'm super impressed!" Scotland's 'top attractions for kids' named as city crowd pleaser tops list
Four days out for children across the country were singled out. Scotland's "top attractions for children" have been named. An "immersive" science centre was the first destination mentioned by the experts. On Wednesday, July 30, rounded up the best days out in Scotland for kids. A total of four activities in the country are named on the list. Placing first on the experts' roundup is Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. The science centre is located on Holyrood Road, near the Scottish Parliament. Dynamic Earth is a state-of-the-art family attraction that takes visitors through history, from the Big Bang to modern day. It is home to a full-dome 6K planetarium and a large range of interactive exhibits. Among the unique galleries at Dynamic Earth are its Polar Extremes and Tropical Rainforest exhibits. The former immerses visitors in a rainforest and teaches them about the animals that call them home, while the latter features a real iceberg. praised Dynamic Earth as "immersive" and "hands-on". In particular, the experts singled out the attraction's rainforest and glacier. wrote: "Take a journey through time at this immersive science centre. Kids can explore Earth's past, present, and future—complete with a tropical rainforest, an icy glacier, and even a simulated space launch. On Google, the attraction has an average rating of 4.4 out five. One day tripper posted: "Dynamic Earth Planetarium offers an experience that is truly out of this world. It's an exhilarating yet sublime and spiritual experience that everyone, kids or curiosity-driven adults, must experience. "From the moment you step in, you're transported to the far reaches of the cosmos, making you feel both tiny and immensely connected to the universe. The immersive visuals and stunning projections create a sense of wonder that is hard to match." Another wrote: "This was a great experience for all ages. It was interactive and engaging. Some self led and some mini movie activities. "The kids had a little activity sheet as they went along and got a small prize at the end for getting the answer which was cool! Planetarium was fab as well." Elsewhere Highland Wildlife Park in Kingussie was named second on the roundup. The 105-hectare safari park and zoo, which is home to animals such as monkeys and Scotland's only polar bears, was praised as "ideal for animal lovers of all ages". Rounding out the experts' list are The Kelpies in Falkirk and Camera Obscura and World of Illusions in Edinburgh. Marking the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, Dynamic Earth is inviting space lovers of all ages to celebrate International Moon Day on Sunday 20th July with a free family-friendly programme of lunar-inspired activities, immersive Planetarium screenings and the chance to meet a real astronomer. From 11am to 3pm, visitors can drop in for free hands-on experiences including building a lunar lander, making a crater, and discovering what the moon is made of. Budding astronauts can craft their own asteroid or lunar wheel, all the while, learning about the wonders of space in an engaging, educational environment. Dynamic Earth's Planetarium The Planetarium will also be buzzing with lunar-themed entertainment. Families can enjoy a special screening of Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out, as the beloved duo journey to the moon in search of cheese. And for one day only, CapCom Go: The Apollo Story will take audiences on a full-dome cinematic adventure through the legacy of the moon landings. Younger explorers can also take part in the Wallace & Gromit: All Systems Go! AR Trail, helping Wallace prepare for take-off through interactive markers and augmented reality surprises hidden across Dynamic Earth's immersive galleries.
