Stockton-based rapper EBK Jaaybo arrested by Arkansas State Police on multiple charges
Stockton-based rapper EBK Jaaybo was arrested on May 18 by the Arkansas State Police on multiple felony charges. EBK Jaaybo, whose real name is Jaymani Gorman, was booked into the Pope County Detention Center on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of criminal use of a prohibited weapon, and one count of theft by receiving. The arrest marked Gorman's second run-in with the law in 2025. He was arrested by the Stockton Police Department on March 5 near Pixie Drive and Kingsley Avenue after a routine traffic stop for a vehicle leaving the area in violation of traffic laws. Gorman and four other adults in the vehicle were detained. He was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of narcotic controlled substances and a parole violation. Previously, Gorman served a year in the San Joaquin County Jail for illegal gun possession. He was released from custody on Feb. 6, according to court records. Gorman rose to fame with his 2024 single 'Boogieman,' which appeared on Billboard's U.S. Bubbling Under Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. The song has garnered nearly 117 million streams on Spotify to date. Gorman's arrest came days after he was announced as a performer on YoungBoy Never Broke Again's first headlining tour. The Louisiana rapper, also known as NBA YoungBoy, was recently released from federal prison after serving 23 months for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The tour, which includes 27 U.S. cities, is scheduled to stop in Oakland on Sept. 12 and Sacramento on Sept. 13. Record reporter Hannah Workman covers news in Stockton and San Joaquin County.
