Estate doubles security following fatal stabbing in Cambridge
A security firm has doubled its patrols on a city estate after a student from Saudi Arabia was fatally stabbed. Mohammed Algasim, 20, had been studying English on a 10-week placement when he was found with stab wounds in his neck in Mill Park, near Cambridge railway station, on Friday at about 23:30 BST. Security firm, Dardan, which operates on the CB1 estate where the incident took place, told the BBC it usually has two security officers patrolling at all times including overnight. However, since the incident, it said the overnight team has doubled to four. The CB1 community group said it wanted to reassure residents that security in the CB1 area by Darden and by Hyline had increased during evenings and overnight. In a tribute issued by his family, Mr Algasim was described as a "young man brimming with enthusiasm". It said: "He was a dutiful son, a loving brother, and the leader of the family in spirit, not in appearance."He was cheerful, chivalrous, pure of heart, quick to give, and passionate about others."Over time, he became the family's charisma, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy in every gathering." In a statement, EF International Language Campus, a Cambridge-based language school that teaches English to overseas students, said it was "deeply saddened" by the death of one of its students."We are providing support to all students and staff affected by this tragic event and have organised counselling sessions," it Corrigan, 21, of Holbrook Road, Cambridge, has been charged with murder. Cambridge man appears in court charged with student's murder
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of an international Algasim, 20, from Saudi Arabia, was stabbed near Cambridge's main railway station on Friday night and died in the early hours of Saturday morning. Saudi student fatally stabbed in Cambridge; two arrested in shocking attack
ALBAWABA- A 20-year-old Saudi student, Mohammed Al-Qassem, was fatally stabbed in Cambridge late Friday night in what police are calling an unprovoked attack. The incident occurred near Mill Park, close to Cambridge train station, where Al-Qassem was participating in a ten-week academic training program. Emergency services were called to the scene at 11:27 p.m., but despite efforts by paramedics, Al-Qassem was pronounced dead just after midnight. The attack has stunned both the Saudi community and Arab diaspora in the UK, with tributes pouring in across social media. Flowers and handwritten messages were placed at the scene in his memory, one reading, 'May your soul be at peace. We are with God and we are with you.' Al-Qassem was enrolled at EF International Language Campus in Cambridge, which expressed deep sorrow over the loss, confirming he was one of their adult students. He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Monday and is set to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. A second man, aged 50, was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody. Investigations are ongoing.

First picture of Saudi student stabbed to death on '10 week college placement'
This is the first picture of a Saudi Arabian student stabbed to death after he moved to the UK to study foreign languages in Cambridge. Mohammed Algasim, 20, from Saudi Arabia, who was on a 10 week placement studying on a foreign language course in Cambridge, was killed in an 'unprovoked attack', police said. Police were called to Mill Park in Cambridgeshire at 11.27pm on Friday (1 August) with reports of violence. Mr Algasim was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.01am (2 August). The student attended the EF International Language Campus, part of a group which offers English courses. The school said in a statement to the Telegraph: 'We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our adult students was fatally injured last night in a public space. 'We are working closely with the local police, who are investigating the incident and have confirmed they made arrests.' 'The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. We are providing support to all students and staff affected by this tragic event and have organised counselling sessions.
