Two arrested in Springs for speeding on Paul Kruger Road
Two motorists were arrested by the EMPD in Springs on May 15 for exceeding the speed limit.
Members of the EMPD Specialised Services set up high-speed monitoring equipment to check for compliance with the designated speed limit of 80km/h on Paul Kruger Road.
Between 06:00 and 07:00, officers stopped the drivers of a grey Volvo and a grey BMW, both of which failed to comply with the designated speed limit along this road.
The 36-year-old man and 50-year-old woman failed to give satisfactory reasons for being in contravention of the National Road Traffic Act 93/1996 and, with video footage as evidence, were immediately handcuffed and placed under arrest for exceeding the speed limit.
The pair was escorted to the Springs Police Station to be detained and are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate's Court.
The EMPD appeals to motorists to practice caution and to adhere to speed limits on roadways as speeding is one of the major contributing factors of road fatalities throughout the City of Ekurhuleni.
