WHO IS ARON D'SOUZA?
According to the BBC, the Enhanced Games were founded by Aron D'Souza, who originally floated the idea of a pro-doping athletic competition. The controversial project is backed by a venture capital fund that includes high-profile investors such as Donald Trump Jr., son of the US President, and billionaire entrepreneur Peter Thiel.
CAN COCAINE AND HEROIN ALSO BE USED?
Participants in the Enhanced Games will be allowed to use certain substances that are banned in traditional elite sports; however, drugs such as cocaine and heroin will remain strictly prohibited, reported BBC.
Organizers have stated that some doping protocols will be conducted under medical supervision to ensure athlete safety.
Only substances approved by the
United States Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) will be permitted for use by participants in the Enhanced Games. This list differs significantly from the one maintained by the
World Anti-Doping Agency
(
WADA
), which governs substance use in elite sports.
ENHANCED GAMES MUST BE STOPPED: WADA
Reacting strongly to the announcement of the Enhanced Games, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) chief Witold Banka has urged US authorities to intervene and prevent the drug-fueled event from taking place next year.
Speaking in Lausanne during an address to Olympic officials, Banka condemned the concept of the Enhanced Games — scheduled for 2026 in Las Vegas — where athletes will be allowed to use performance-enhancing substances.
He declared that the event "must be stopped," warning that it poses a serious threat to the integrity and health standards of global sport.
"We all must stand up and condemn those who put greed and ego before the well-being of athletes and the values of fair competition," Banka said.
"As the
2028 Olympic Games
in Los Angeles approach, we cannot allow what should be a celebration of honest sporting endeavor to be overshadowed by this cynical attempt to undermine clean sport.
"WADA is now urging the authorities in the US to seek ways to prevent the Enhanced Games from going ahead as planned. For the sake of athletes' health and the purity of sport, it must be stopped."
