Egypt completely safe from possible radiation leak amid Iranian-Israeli military escalation: ENRRA

In comments to Youm7, He emphasized that there are no threats to the country and the authority is closely monitoring the situation to reassure citizens around the clock. He continued that radiation monitoring devices in Egypt have been operating 24 hours a day for many years, noting that most of the information circulating on social media is inaccurate and unscientific. Israeli has launched airstrikes since June 13, 2025 against Iranian several sites, including nuclear facilities. Damages occurred to Iranian nuclear facility of Natanz without leakage of radioactive or chemical contamination outside it. Also, Israeli launched strikes against Isfahan nuclear facilities several times but no increase in off-site radiation levels has been reported so far according to the United Nation nuclear watchdog 'the Interntaional Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)' On Friday, the ENRRA announced that it is closely monitoring the radiological situation and recent developments at Iran's Natanz nuclear facility. The authority also stated that it is tracking all radiation-related developments through Egypt's national radiation monitoring, early warning, and reporting network, which spans all governorates. Iran launched a devastating missile attack on central Israel on early hours of Saturday in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes earlier that day targeting Tehran and Iranian nuclear facilities. The Israeli strikes reportedly killed hundreds, including military leaders and nuclear scientists. Dozens of Iranian missiles fell on Tel Aviv, causing widespread destruction to residential buildings and forcing hundreds to evacuate their homes. Three Israelis were killed and more than 170 others injured so far according to the Israeli MDA Ambulance amid continuing the military escalation between the both sides. Iranian TV reported that about 60 civilians, including 20 children, were killed in yesterday's Zionist attack on a 14-story residential complex in Tehran. Other more than 70 Iranian were killed on Friday. Also, Iranian media outlets reported that besides killing military leaders and nuclear scientists by the Israeli strikes on Friday, more military leaders in Iran were killed including General Gholam Reza Mharabi, deputy head of the intelligence department, and General Mehdi Rabbani, Deputy Chief of the Operations Department of the Iranian Armed Forces.

During the meeting, the Minister also reviewed fuel reserves required to operate power generation units and discussed plans to increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix in the coming period, according to a statement released by the Ministry on Friday. He emphasized adopting new operational strategies to optimize fuel usage, maximize the efficiency of kilowatt-hour production, and enhance the economic return on each unit of fuel consumed. All necessary measures will be implemented within the framework of the current national energy plan. The Minister further instructed the heads of electricity companies to maintain continuous coordination with the control centers within their respective companies and with the regional control centers of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company. He stressed the importance of ensuring that leadership teams remain on-site around the clock and closely monitor developments in real time to safeguard the unified grid and ensure uninterrupted power supply. Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed that the situation is being closely monitored, the cabinet said in a statement on Friday. The Prime Minister added that coordination is underway between Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt Hassan Abdullah and Minister of Finance and Ahmed Kouchouk to increase the strategic stockpile of key commodities. Madbouly also said that a meeting will be held with the Ministers of Electricity and Petroleum to assess potential scenarios and implications resulting from the military developments in the region. It added that the damage caused by the Israeli attack on the Natanz facility is being assessed. No casualties were recorded in the attack on the Natanz facility, the AEOI continued, noting that the Israeli attack violates all international resolutions and laws. 'Political and military pressures will not undermine the resolve of Iran's nuclear scientists and experts; on the contrary, they will only strengthen our determination to advance the development of our nuclear industry,' the statement read.
