Saudi's Qassim Cement awards $298mln EPC contract for new production line

Qassim Cement Co. has signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Sinoma International Engineering Co. to establish a fourth production line at its plant site in Buraidah. The 24-month contract is valued at $298 million (1.12 billion Saudi riyals), the company said in a statement to the Saudi stock exchange on Sunday. The new line will have a production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of clinker per day. The project is designed to replace certain outdated, low-efficiency production lines by incorporating the latest technological advancements in the field, CEO Omar Al-Omar said. Qassim Cement Co. signed today, Aug. 14, an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract worth $298 million (almost SAR 1.12 billion) with Sinoma International Engineering Co. to establish a fourth production line at its plant site in Buraidah. The new line will boast a production capacity of 10,000 tons of clinker per day, the Saudi-listed cement producer said in a statement to Tadawul. The turnkey EPC contract Is valid for 24 months. The project will be enabled by the latest technologies in cement industry, according to Qassim Cement. There are no related parties to the deal, it added. The project is designed to replace certain outdated, low-efficiency production lines with a modern, advanced line. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom's objectives to enhance energy efficiency and promote environmental sustainability, said CEO Omar Al-Omar. He further stated that the project aims to optimize the utilization of the existing plant infrastructure and marks a pivotal contribution to the company's sustainable growth strategy—focused on maximizing shareholder value, meeting domestic demand, and diversifying product offerings in accordance with Saudi's Vision 2030.

Saudi group MGC seals Jubail–Buraidah pipeline project deal

Saudi-based Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Contracting Company has announced that it has secured the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the Jubail-Buraidah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project. This project is a significant boost to the water infrastructure in the Al Qassim and the Eastern provinces that will cater to the drinking water needs in both regions. This strategic project represents a key milestone in enhancing the kingdom's water security by transferring desalinated water from the Eastern Province to the Al Qassim region, supporting long-term sustainability and development. The 587-km-long pipeline will have a transmission capacity of 650,000 cu m/day, said MGC in its LinkedIn post. The project will have the ability of reverse flow from Al Shamasiyah, passing through Al Qulayib, to Al Jubail with the full project capacity, in line with the plans of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for the drinking water regional connection throughout the Kingdom, it added. "As the EPC contractor, this achievement reflects our strong commitment to delivering essential infrastructure and contributing to the success of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030," said a company spokesman. "We are honored to be part of this national project and proud of our contribution to building a more sustainable water future," he added. The project also includes 6 strategic storage tanks at Al-Shamasiyah and 3 strategic storage tanks at Al-Jubail with a total storage capacity of 1.63 million cu m, ensuring a reliable and efficient water supply in the two regions.

Saudi Arabia's NWC to award Hajar Sewage Networks EPC contract in June

Saudi Arabia's National Water Company (NWC) is expected to award the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the first phase of Hajar Sewage Networks Project in Al-Ahsa Governorate in the second quarter of 2025, according to a source. The tender was issued on 20 March 2025, with bids submitted by 13 April 2025. 'The EPC contract is expected to be awarded in June 2025,' the source said, adding that project is scheduled to be delivered in 36 months from the award date. The scope of the project includes the implementation of sewage networks for the Hajar suburb, along with associated earthworks, roof restoration, and utility works.
