All American Boss Explains Why Season 7 Went Out on a Cliffhanger — Plus, the Latest on a Potential Renewal
In the event that All American does not return for an eighth season at The CW, fans will forever be left wondering about the outcome of one fateful football game. The teen drama closed out its seventh season Monday night with the high-stakes playoff match-up between the Beverly High Eagles and the South Crenshaw Chargers. In the episode's final moments, Beverly was down 24-20, and it all came down to the last play of the game. Beverly quarterback KJ received the ball and threw a long, long pass to the opposite end of the field… but as Jordan, Cassius and every single spectator watched the ball soar through the air, the credits rolled before we could learn where it landed. More from TVLine The Amazing Race: Who Will Win Season 37? And Who Should? Grey's Anatomy's Lucas and Simone Are Done: Is Anybody Sorry? Elsbeth's Carrie Preston, EP Talk Finale's 'Crazy,' Star-Studded Musical Number and Filling the Kaya Void It's possible that cliffhanger could be All American's last scene ever, as the series has yet to be renewed for Season 8. But as co-showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll explains to TVLine, it was hard to pass up the opportunity for a 'symbolic' conclusion to Season 7, even if it meant leaving storylines unfinished. 'The football games between Beverly and Crenshaw — they're always so personal. And this season especially, it is so much bigger than the actual game,' she tells us. 'It is symbolic of the unresolved nature of the Jeremy family and the Baker family and their relationship, of the unresolved nature of Khalil and Amina's relationship, of this new generation's struggle. For us, who won that game and who gets to declare themselves the victor of everything that went down over the season felt like such a powerful way to end the episode, and — fingers crossed — allow us to come back in Season 8 to pick up with the results of that game and how it affects them moving forward.' 2025 Renewal and Cancellation Scorecard! View List As for the show's yet-to-be-determined fate — which will likely be decided later this month, as broadcast networks unveil their 2025-26 lineups — Carroll says she hasn't gotten any indication from The CW about All American's renewal chances, but she's 'optimistic' about its potential to return. 'I mean, we haven't gotten a cancellation, so yay us?' the EP continues with a laugh. 'We're moving forward with our storyline ideas in hopes of getting a Season 8. We all know how this industry works, and there's so little we're in control of, but our hopes are that we will have another season and get to continue this story. Quite frankly, we've only just started to scratch the surface of this new generation. We're so energized about the stories we have to tell with KJ and Amina and Khalil, and the Baker and Jeremy legacy, now that they know they're family.' fans, how did you feel about Monday's finale, including that season-ending cliffhanger? Who Should Watson Save: Adams or Stephens? Heading Into Finale, We Make the Cast Choose
Moriarty's diabolical intervention in Watson's lab claimed two victims by the end of Episode 12 — the last installment of the CBS drama before its Season 1 finale this Sunday (9/8c). As the hour came to a close, twin brothers/researchers Stephens and Adams Croft fell into comas resulting from some virus-related tomfoolery orchestrated by Watson's nemesis. And then, adding insult to illness, Moriarty's meddling also meant that there wasn't enough matter with which to create enough experimental serum for both brothers (thanks, Ingrid!). So by episode's end, Watson wrestled with the notion that his medicine would only be able to bring one Croft back from the brink. An A-to-Z List of 300+ Scripted Series View List 'As someone who may or may not be in love with Stephens, I would definitely say 'Stephens,'' Inga Schlingmann, who plays Sasha, said immediately. 'So that's very biased, but also very honest.' (And if you saw Sasha and Stephens' sweet bedside admission of affection in last week's episode, can you blame her?) Conversely, 'I have to pick Adams, because I live in Los Angeles, and I'm really into all the woo-woo s–t,' joked Eve Harlow, who plays Ingrid. On a more upbeat note: As TVLine exclusively reported in April, the Season 1 finale also will introduce Tika Sumpter (The Haves and the Have Nots, One Life to Live) as Laila, a pediatric oncologist will catch Watson's eye. But, back to the Crofts. To find out what Ritchie Coster, who plays Shinwell, and Peter Mark Kendall, who plays both ailing siblings, thinks about the matter, press PLAY on the video above. NCIS: Origins Stars Pitch a Ghosts Crossover for Dead (?) Lala — WATCH
The following contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale, now streaming on Paramount+. Whatever the fate of Special Agent Lala Dominguez, NCIS: Origins star Mariel Molino is determined to stay in the CBS family. More from TVLine Burning Fire Country Finale Question, Answered: Where Were All the Masks? Elsbeth's Carrie Preston, EP Talk Finale's 'Crazy,' Star-Studded Musical Number and Filling the Kaya Void Ghosts EPs Talk Finale's 'Perilous' Jay Cliffhanger, Pete and Alberta's Big Moment - Plus, Grade It! As NCIS: Origins' freshman run drew to a close on April 28, Lala was on her way to find 'probie' Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) at the family home he is readying to finally sell — to deliver the news that she convince MP investigator to not arrest him for the murder of cartel boss Pedro Hernandez — when a small girl darted out into the road. Lala steered to miss the child, and flipped her Jeep in the process. Lala was last seen dangling upside down in the driver's seat, bleeding profusely. It's easy to assume that Lala died on the spot (and I've said a lot on why that'd be the very best version of the powerful and heartbreaking finale), but Origins showrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal are not confirming the character's fate, yet. Now that Lala's mortality has been called into question, TVLine checked in with Molino again, at Wednesday night's CBS Fest '25 event celebrating the network's recently revealed 2025-26 schedule. 'Oh, man…. I hope she comes back. I hope that she's alive,' Molino said, standing with co-stars Stowell and Kyle Schmid. 'But who knows. '[The] NCIS [franchise] has taken big swings before with characters and their futures, so it's tough to say, the actress added. 'Turn on those candles and pray, please!' Schmid noted that Molino has another gig lined up — she'll appear in Season 2 of Max's Vgly, due out this fall — while Stowell said that, worst case for Lala, 'the back-up plan is to move her over to Ghosts,' which of course also airs on CBS. 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll be a ghost on Ghosts. I can always be on Ghosts,' Molino nodded. That, or, 'Lala's ghost gets a spinoff,' she quipped. Want scoop on , or for any other TV show? Burning Fire Country Finale Question, Answered: Where Were All the Masks?
The following contains spoilers from the Season 3 finale, now streaming on Paramount+. After CBS' Fire Country served up its intense, two-hour Season 3 finale, many of our readers were left fretting over the fates of Vince (played by Billy Burke), Sharon (Diane Farr) and Walter (Jeff Fahey), who were last seen pinned inside the memory care facility just as its roof collapsed due to raging flames. More from TVLine Elsbeth's Carrie Preston, EP Talk Finale's 'Crazy,' Star-Studded Musical Number and Filling the Kaya Void Ghosts EPs Talk Finale's 'Perilous' Jay Cliffhanger, Pete and Alberta's Big Moment - Plus, Grade It! NCIS Episode 500 Is Coming: EP Ponders Plan to Mark Latest Milestone A few readers, though, were a bit preoccupied by the fact that Vince and Sharon, like son Bode before them, had darted into that building without their firefighters' SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus). 'Since when do firefighters enter burning buildings without breathing apparatus and masks?' asked one commenter. Echoed another, 'Where are all the breathing apparatuses and oxygen tanks?' A third reader shrugged, 'I guess smoke inhalation and standard oxygen tanks for firemen are not a thing for Fire Country!' As TVLine does, we hand-delivered your query to series co-creator and star Max Thieriot, during a red carpet interview at Wednesday evening's CBS Fest '25 event. Regarding Bode and Walter, who were first in when the priority was simply evacuating the latter's memory care facility with the fast-moving Zabel Ridge blaze closing in, 'They weren't anticipating the fire being on the building yet,' Thieriot reminds in the video above. Once Bode lugs Walter's friend out, and the building now afire, he ostensibly could/would have grabbed proper gear, 'but doesn't make it back inside' before the roof collapses, Thieriot says. Now, while Bode and Walter were inside, Sharon and Vince rolled up, along with Jake and a 42 truck. Bode's parents threw on their coats and helmets — but no SCBA — and made a beeline into the building, much to Jake's frustration. That, Thieriot allows, 'was a creative choice, to see the characters' faces' as they tried to find Walter and make it back outside. (He also notes that those masks are 'difficult to wear' while also performing a scene.) What's more, 'in the chaos of the moment, knowing that [Walter and Bode] were inside, it was like, 'Grab them now and get them out!'' Thieriot says. 'But,' he makes clear, even as an EP on the series, 'I wasn't a part of the conversation about that specific choice in that moment.' Want scoop on , or for any other TV show?
