Brazilian aerospace firm Embraer has established a subsidiary in India as it looks to expand its footprint across defence, commercial aviation, services and support, and urban air mobility company currently has around 50 aircraft and 11 different types operating in India. In a statement on Friday, Embraer said its expansion also reflects the growing ties between Brazil and India.'The establishment of a subsidiary in India aims at strengthening its interests across defence, commercial aviation, business aviation, services & support and the burgeoning urban air mobility sector," the company plans to grow its team in India and build capacity to tap into opportunities within the local aerospace and defence ecosystem . This includes creating teams across corporate functions and setting up specialised units focused on procurement, supply chain, and February 2024, Embraer signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mahindra Defence Systems to explore collaboration on the Indian Air Force 's Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme. The two companies are evaluating the possibility of jointly offering Embraer's C-390 Millennium , a multi-mission aircraft."India is a key market for Embraer, and we are excited to deepen our collaboration with the Indian aerospace and defence industry, leveraging expertise and technology to contribute to the nation's growth and Make in India efforts," said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of airline Star Air operates an all-Embraer fleet, including E175 and ERJ145 defence, Indian operators currently use Embraer platforms such as the Legacy 600 for the transport of government officials and VIPs by the Indian Air Force and Border Security Force. The Indian Air Force also operates the 'Netra' airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, which is based on the Embraer ERJ145 platform.

Star Airlines announces new flight between Belagavi-Hyd

Belagavi: Star Airlines has announced a new flight service between Belagavi and Hyderabad. The flight will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting from May 20. The flight will depart from Belagavi at 8am, landing in Hyderabad at 9.05am. In return, the flight will take off from Hyderabad at 4.35pm and arrive back in Belagavi by 5.40pm. The operations have been introduced with introductory fares starting at Rs 3,099. Star Airlines has also changed the schedule timing of Bengaluru-Belagavi flight from May 1. This service is available on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays. The flight will take off from Bengaluru at 2pm and reach Belagavi at 3.10pm. In return, the flight departs from Belagavi at 9pm and reaches Bengaluru at 10.10pm. Speaking to the TOI, Belagavi Airport director S Thyagarajan said as far as the operation between Bengaluru and Belagavi is concerned, the service was available earlier also, but the airline management has changed the timing schedule of the flights now. Similarly, considering the growing passenger demand, the airline is upgrading its daily Belagavi-Mumbai route from May 15 by replacing the ERJ 145 with the larger Embraer ERJ 175, a 76-seater jet that offers more seats and better in-flight amenities. The flight will leave Belagavi at 7.40am and reach Mumbai at 8.50am. In return, the flight departs from Mumbai at 4.50pm and reaches Belagavi by 6pm.
