Lexus has unveiled the all-new ES, a significant step forward in luxury saloons, embracing electrified motoring for discerning drivers. The eighth-generation ES elevates the brand's renowned comfort, elegance and craftsmanship with a fresh design and advanced powertrains. Inspired by the LF-ZC concept, the new ES boasts a bold yet sophisticated silhouette, optimised for aerodynamic efficiency. Key design elements include the evolved spindle body front-end and distinctive twin L-signature lighting. Built on the reimagined TNGA GA-K platform, the ES offers a lower centre of gravity and enhanced ride comfort, aligning with Lexus's commitment to a dynamic yet serene driving experience favoured in SA. Inside, the meticulously crafted interior provides increased legroom and a spacious feel, enhanced by features like a panoramic roof and ambient lighting. Material innovation includes options like Bamboo Layering, reflecting Lexus's blend of luxury and sustainability. Available reclining rear seats and the sensory concierge system further enhance passenger comfort, ideal for all journeys. Reflecting Lexus's multi-pathway electrification strategy, the ES offers diverse powertrain options for the UK market, including both HEV and BEV variants. The ES 300h introduces a new 2.0-litre hybrid, while the ES 350h features an upgraded 2.5-litre hybrid with optional all-wheel drive. For all-electric driving, the ES 350e and ES 500e offer front- and all-wheel drive respectively, with the latter featuring the advanced DIRECT4 torque distribution system. The total redesign of the ES swaps the previous generation's smooth design for harder edges. Lexus says the inspiration for the design comes from the 2023 LF-ZC concept, but we're also seeing some of Lexus's RZ SUV. The new generation offers a hybrid powertrain along with a pair of fully electric models. As with so many other automakers in recent years, Lexus opted for the split headlight design. Lexus says the new model measures about 6.5 inches longer than before. The wheelbase is longer, too, though it hasn't grown as much, and now spans three inches longer than before. The ES looks like it has gained some height as well, probably due to fitting a battery under the floor of the electric models. The hybrid ES350h model stores 244 horsepower under its hood. It can be optioned in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Acceleration from zero to 62 mph happens in 7.8 seconds with all-wheel drive, or 8.0 seconds with front-wheel drive. 2026 Lexus ES revealed, coming to Australia with hybrid and EV power
The ES300h is now powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric system developing up to 148kW and claimed to hit 100km/h in as little as 8.3 seconds, while the new ES350h will come with an upgraded 2.5-litre petrol-electric system offering 182kW (up from 160kw) and propelling it to 100km/h in a claimed 7.8 seconds.
