Which 2026 recruits have offers from Alabama basketball? Who's the tallest? Who's in backyard?

Only a couple months removed from March Madness, Alabama basketball has spent the offseason building its roster for the runs that lie ahead. Per 247Sports' database, 30 uncommitted prospects from the 2026 recruiting class have been offered by Alabama coach Nate Oats and staff. By state, Georgia leads the way with five recruits, followed by four from California and three each from Florida, Ohio and Maryland. Advertisement So far, forward Gage Mayfield, who is coming up on his senior year at Hale County — the home of Crimson Tide hoops alum Herb Jones — is the lone player to represent the state of Alabama among potential signees to UA's 2026-27 roster. By the looks of it, length continues to be the most sought-after physical attribute for Oats and recruiting mastermind Preston Murphy. The tallest 2026 players with Alabama offers are 7-footer Sinan Juan of Georgetown Preparatory School (Md.) and 7-1 Favour Ibe of Mt. Zion Prep (Md.). Nineteen total players offered by the Crimson Tide stand at 6-6 and over, including five between 6-10 and 6-11. Alabama's 2025 signees include Amari Allen, London Jemison and Davion Hannah. The trio make up the 15th ranked incoming recruiting class in the country. Here's a look at the complete list of uncommitted 2026 recruits who have a shot at suiting up for the Crimson Tide. Former SEC star thinks Oklahoma will be ready for Michigan game

Former SEC star thinks Oklahoma will be ready for Michigan game The Oklahoma Sooners face a very daunting schedule in 2025. Aside from their grueling eight-game SEC schedule, OU has one of their premier nonconference games of the entire college football season in Week 2. The Sooners will be hosting the Michigan Wolverines in a battle of blue-blood programs representing the two best conferences in the sport, the SEC and the Big Ten. That game takes place on September 6th. David Pollack, a former college football analyst for "ESPN College GameDay", believes that the Sooners, who likely won't be favored in that matchup, will be ready for the Wolverines when the time comes. "That Oklahoma game versus Michigan, if you think that's an easy game to pick, I would disagree," Pollack said. "I think it's a "pick-em" at worst and I might even lean Oklahoma because of what they have continuity-wise. I think Oklahoma is going to come in with more continuity with quarterback and play-caller. Oklahoma has the best defensive line in the SEC. Like, I know that for a fact, like I've watched those guys. Inside, if you want to run the football against those defensive tackles, they are a handful. Oklahoma, I think, is going to be one of the most improved teams in the country, period. When you get John Mateer and you get Ben Arbuckle together, Jaydn Ott at running back, if anybody watched OU's defense last year, you had a lot to like." This matchup also features two head coaches who will be looking for a signature win for their respective careers and a statement opportunity for their respective teams. Aside from Texas in 2023 and Alabama in 2024, Brent Venables is short on statement wins as the head coach of the Sooners. Two 6-7 seasons in three years have his seat hot entering 2025. Sherrone Moore is an OU alum who played for the Sooners during the Bob Stoops era. His Michigan team finished strong a year ago, but fell plenty of rungs in a Big Ten conference that they won for three straight seasons in Moore's first year. With all of the offseason changes the Sooners have made since last year ended, Oklahoma looks to be in a better position to make more statements in a positive way in 2025. LOOK: Lee Corso's first head gear pick involved Brutus and Ohio State

LOOK: Lee Corso's first head gear pick involved Brutus and Ohio State If you know anything about college football, you know that longtime ESPN College GameDay Lee Corso has a tradition of donning headgear of the team he predicts to win the game of the week the popular pregame college football show airs on location from. That is even more salient since Corso announced he'll step away from College GameDay during Week 1 (August 30) of this fall. And if you are an Ohio State fan (we're making educated guesses here), then you likely also know that Corso has a long, long history of putting the Brutus head atop his body when the show airs from Columbus for a big game -- and there have been a slew of those. However, maybe you didn't know that Corso's tradition of putting headgear on started with Brutus when he picked the Buckeyes to beat Penn State inside the grand 'ole Horseshoe on October 5, 1996. If you haven't seen that moment, or maybe just want to reminisce the first time this tradition started, then take a look back at when that moment was born. Ohio State seems to always be front and center with many of the traditions of college football, and this is just another example. College football will miss Lee Corso, and there's no doubt Buckeye Nation has a love affair with the old coach turned media personality because of this history. Oh, and there is a very, very good chance that Corso's last game on August 30 might involve Brutus again because that's the week that Ohio State hosts Texas. Wouldn't that be a come full circle type of affair? Lee Corso to step away from ESPN College GameDay this fall

Lee Corso to step away from ESPN College GameDay this fall One of the icons of ESPN's popular College GameDay show is hanging up the headgear. Lee Corso, who has been with the show since its beginning in 1987, announced Wednesday that his final appearance on the show will be during Week 1 of the 2025 college football season. Famous for donning headgear to make his pick for the game of the week set on location, Corso first started that tradition by pulling the Ohio State mascot head of Brutus on during a show on October 5, 1996, a game OSU won over Penn State in the 'Shoe, 38-7. ESPN does not announce the show's location until after the schedule of games every week, but will typically announce plans for Week 1 as things get closer to the season. This year, Week 1 is set for August 30, and there's a good chance he might go out the way he came in, in Columbus for that game between Ohio State and Texas. But ... we'll have to see. It would be poetic. Corso released a statement of gratitude as he approaches 90 years old this year. 'My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years. I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement," Corso said in a statement. 'ESPN has been exceptionally generous to me, especially these past few years. They accommodated me and supported me, as did my colleagues in the early days of College GameDay. Special thanks to Kirk Herbstreit for his friendship and encouragement. And lest I forget, the fans … truly a blessing to share this with them. ESPN gave me this wonderful opportunity and provided me the support to ensure success. I am genuinely grateful.' All told, Corso has put the OSU headgear on 45 times, more than any other program. We're going to go out on a limb and say that it'll be 46 on August 30 on the banks of the Olentangy. Thanks for being a part of a lot of college football fan memories.
