Italy May EU-harmonised CPI decelerates to 1.9% y/y, in line with forecast

ROME (Reuters) -Italian EU-harmonised consumer prices (HICP) rose 0.1% month-on-month in May and the annual inflation rate decelerated to 1.9%, preliminary figures by official statistics agency ISTAT showed on Friday. A Reuters survey of 21 analysts had pointed to a flat month-on-month reading and a 1.9% year-on-year rise. Core inflation (net of fresh food and energy) was running at 2.1% year-on-year on the HICP index in May, like in April. ISTAT also reported that the main domestic price index (NIC), was flat on the month and down to 1.7% annually in May, following a 1.9% annual rate the previous month. Spain's 12-month EU-harmonised inflation in May falls to lowest since October

MADRID (Reuters) -Spain's European Union-harmonised 12-month inflation rate fell in May to its lowest level since October, preliminary data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed on Friday, as falling prices for leisure and culture helped alleviate other hikes. Inflation eased to 1.9% in May from 2.2% in the period through April, INE said. The rate was not that low since hitting 1.8% in October. Transportation prices fell and a the growth of electricity prices was slower than in the same month of the previous year, it added. The 12-month EU-harmonised inflation was below the 2.0% expected by analysts polled by Reuters. Core inflation, which strips out volatile fresh food and energy prices, was 2.1% year-on-year, the INE data showed. Spain's 12-month national inflation fell to 1.9%, down from 2.2% in April. Analysts polled by Reuters expected a 2.0% rate.

May 15 (Reuters) - Consumer price inflation in France was stable in April, slightly above analysts' expectations and the preliminary reading, statistics office INSEE said on Thursday. France's harmonized inflation rate, adjusted for comparison with other euro zone countries, was +0.9% year-on-year in April, INSEE said. A poll of 19 analysts surveyed by Reuters had on average expected the +0.8% rate for EU-harmonised inflation in April. INSEE reported the same figure in its preliminary reading. French consumer inflation rate was at +0.9% year-on-year in March.

April 15 (Reuters) - Consumer price inflation in France was stable in March, in line with analysts' expectations and the preliminary reading, statistics office INSEE said on Tuesday. France's harmonized inflation rate, adjusted for comparison with other euro zone countries, was 0.9% year-on-year in March, INSEE said. Analysts in a Reuters poll had on average expected the same figure for EU-harmonised inflation in March.
