The World's Reacting To The Viral Aussie Twins And It Says A Lot About Aussie Culture
ICYMI, a pair of Aussie twins is going viral after they did a TV interview as witnesses of a crime, but the sisters didn't notice they were completely in sync. Witnesses are recounting the mayhem that unfolded on the Sunshine Coast. Two sisters have told of how their mother and a man raced to help when the carjacked SUV rolled on Steve Irwin Way, only to find the gun-wielding car thief emerging from the wreck. #7NEWS — 7NEWS Queensland (@7NewsBrisbane) April 21, 2025 Twitter: @7NewsBrisbane I won't lie, twins speaking in unison always feels a bit spooky. Anyone else? From the Easter bunny-adorned scrubs to the identical speech pattern, Paula and Bridgette Powers are being praised for their twin telepathy around the world. Obviously, everyone is LIVING for the uncanny unison. So, here's how the internet is reacting to the Powers sisters: 1. There's always one person saying, "Australia can't be real". This is the kind of scene you couldn't script, characters you couldn't invent. Watch it immediately with the sound on. Australia can't be real. — Eamonn Breaks. (@EXECUTIVESTEVE) April 21, 2025 Twitter: @EXECUTIVESTEVE 4. Another is claiming there's a mild conspiracy happening (AKA cloning). I know it's a shocking story, but tell me I'm not the only one who finds the interview hilarious Those twins are beyond identical—clones vibes — Avi Yemini (@OzraeliAvi) April 21, 2025 Twitter: @OzraeliAvi 5. People are frothing over their truly Aussie nickname — "The Twinnies" — and their jobs. learning those australian twins on the news talking in sync are locally known as the twinnies and that they do great wildlife conservation work is a nice treat tbh — perpetually tired (@TheMrZippie) April 22, 2025 Twitter: @TheMrZippie 6. A gent even had a question about The Twinnies' parentage — suggesting that it could be another pair of Aussie icons from an old A Current Affair interview. Someone needs to find out if these are their parents. — Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) April 21, 2025 Twitter: @CollinRugg 7. "Thought there are no guns in Australia" said one X user referring to the absolute units that are The Twinnies. I thought there are no guns in Australia. — Monika (@MonikaMusing) April 21, 2025 Twitter: @MonikaMusing 8. Others have theories and questions on how Paula and Bridgette got into the business of finishing each other's sentences — pure sibling business. 11. Of course, questions are popping up about the science of it all like "Is there a scientific name for this?"... Is there a scientific name for this? — Andrew Lilico (@andrew_lilico) April 21, 2025 Twitter: @andrew_lilico 12. And, "What does this reveal about psychology?". Australian twins showcase uncanny synchronicity during an attempted armed carjacking and events that unfolded after a subsequent crash. What does this reveal about psychology? — Krew (@cataclysmkrew) April 22, 2025 Twitter: @cataclysmkrew 14. ...but one American had some thoughts! The Matrix is glitching again. — Lloyd Legalist (@LloydLegalist) April 22, 2025 Twitter: @LloydLegalist 15. The moral of the story? Don't get caught doing anything by the Powers sisters. 16. And finally, there's added evidence of the twins' icon-status. GET THEM A TV SHOW. After being mesmerised by this interview, I've gone down a rabbit hole and found out that these sisters run a Pelican and Seabird rescue centre. Netflix need to give Paula and Bridgette their own Tiger King style show so we can keep up with them... — James McCarthy (@JamesMcCarthy97) April 21, 2025 Twitter: @JamesMcCarthy97

FWIW, the twins run Twinnies Pelican and Seabird Rescue where they have been saving seabirds for almost 20 years. Their instagram is full of pictures of them, yep, you guessed it: Saving birds. Here they are kissing a pelican: Here they are releasing some terns*. They were even visited by Steve Irwin (and crew) back in the day. Anyway, this is what I needed after the Papa dying. I'm sensing a TLC reality show for them in their future.
