Pizza Hut rivals Taco Tuesday deals with INSANE same-day promo
Pizza Hut is coming for all restaurants that hold Taco Tuesday specials. The restaurant chain is offering customers a one-topping Personal Pan Pizza for only $2 at participating locations every Tuesday this month. The deal is good for all in-store and carryout orders, and is limited to four pizzas per customer. While the deal is intended to be a summertime offer, Pizza Hut is exploring the idea of extending the special after customers praised the offer. 'The response has been nothing short of incredible and we are even selling out of Personal Pan Pizzas at thousands of restaurants across the country,' chief marketing officer Melissa Friebe told USA Today. 'Our goal is to give guests more of what they love and this offering has proven to do just that.' Customers claimed they spotted lines out the doors of Pizza Hut restaurants, and the chain even revealed that supplies used for the offer 'sold out.' The limited-time offer comes after Pizza Hut suffered a 2 percent drop in sales during the first three months of the year. Pizza Hut has offered a variety of specials like an 'ultimate' deal during the Super Bowl to attract customers and boost sales. However, its financial situation has been rocky. In 2020, its largest franchisee NPC International filed for bankruptcy. The chain had been operating over 1,200 Pizza Huts before the bankruptcy filing, which forced them to shutter up to 300 locations. Things took another turn for the worse after Georgia-based franchisee EYM Group also filed for bankruptcy in 2024. The firm had been operating 142 locations when they were forced to file after owing Pizza Hut $2.25 million. Around 15 Pizza Huts were shuttered before the filing, and another 127 locations were in limbo before various investors purchased 77 units. The chain, which operates over 6,700 locations worldwide, has long competed with brands like Domino's and Papa John's. But other restaurant chains have also made it difficult for Pizza Hut by offering can't-miss specials, including Taco Tuesdays. Taco Bell, the world's largest Mexican-inspired quick-service restaurant chain, is famous for celebrating Tuesdays with limited-time offers. The chain relaunched its 'Tuesday Drops' offer last year for rewards members, which gives them access to limited-time deals every Tuesday. It also succeeded in moving National Taco Day to the first Tuesday of October in the US. Del Taco also offers weekly Taco Tuesday promotions even though its owner Jack in the Box is considering selling the chain. Sit-down restaurants are just as interested in celebrating, including On The Border, which holds $2 Taco Tuesdays and offers $3 options for Southwest Chicken and Brisket at participating locations. On the Border has made headlines for its recent bankruptcy filing and 76-restaurant closures, but it's not planning on stopping Tuesday specials anytime soon.

Popular pizza chain's locations find new life after bankruptcy
Pizza Hut is among the most popular pizza chains worldwide. Since 1958, it has become an American staple and a saving grace for busy parents who can't cook. Americans have made pizza their own by using the signature characteristics of the original dish and stylizing it with favorite ingredients and flavors. Pizza is so popular it could almost be considered a national dish due to its convenience, great taste, and affordable price. Pizza Hut has been facing tumultuous times over the last few years due to ongoing financial troubles, multiple closures, and legal battles that have cast a shadow over its business. Related: Struggling pizza chain franchisee files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Many Pizza Hut locations are operated by franchisees, and EYM Group is one of the pizza chain's largest ones. The relationship began in 2016 and has only grown since then, as the company has purchased several locations from the chain. Nonetheless, business is business, and this relationship didn't remain amicable for long. The chain's performance began deteriorating only a few years later, leading both companies to engage in ongoing legal battles. p Shannon O'Hara/Getty Images EYM Group first filed a lawsuit against Pizza Hut (YUM) in March of last year to prevent the pizza chain from terminating its franchise agreements, as it operated around 140 locations at the time. The case was dismissed a month later. However, Pizza Hut took steps to maintain its well-being. In June, the chain sued EYM Group, claiming it had breached multiple clauses in its agreement, including missing payments during a forbearance period and allegedly leading restaurants to underperform. Related: Popular pizza chain might soon be taken over amid troubles That same month, EYM Group abruptly shut down 15 locations in Northwest Indiana, claiming they were underperforming restaurants that had become too much of a financial burden to be sustained. Pizza Hut's claims were substantiated when it reported a 7% increase in comparable sales from 2019 to 2023, while EYM Group reported a 10% decline in its locations. After months of ongoing legal battles and multiple store closures, EYM Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July 2024. The Pizza Hut franchisee held an auction in late January to sell its remaining 127 locations in five states to the highest bidder as part of its restructuring plan. The pizza chain seemingly found a new life after its franchisee's bankruptcy filing, signaling optimism about the future. Months after the bankruptcy, 77 Pizza Hut locations are now under new ownership after National Franchise Sales closed a nearly $12 million deal to acquire them. This new ownership will allow Pizza Hut to continue growing.
