DIA is closing part of West Economy Lot, more than 2K parking spots, for repairs
DENVER (KDVR) — If you're planning on parking at the Denver International Airport, you may want to give yourself more time as DIA is closing down thousands of spots for construction.
DIA is known as one of the busiest in the world, and the parking lots are no exception. Parking lots often fill up, especially on busy holidays. Before Thanksgiving in 2024, the parking at DIA was filling up. The Pikes Peak Lot and multiple off-site garage lots were full before noon Wednesday ahead of the holiday.
And soon, parking won't get any easier at the airport.
The airport said a large portion of the West Economy Lot, over 2,500 spots, will close for the next few months for necessary repairs. The West Economy Lot is to the left of Jeppesen Terminal and walking distance to the airport.

Starting April 1, DIA will close part of the lot and begin repairs like reconstructing shelter islands and curbs, installing new snow storage pads, updating the drainage system, repaving and restriping. The airport said this is in an effort to keep the parking lot Americans with Disabilities compliant.
The lot is expected to reopen in October of this year, but during the next few months, there will be fewer parking spots nearby the airport.
About 2,000 spaces on the northern side of the lot will stay open through the repairs, but the airport said drivers should use the East Garage, West Garage, East Economy, Pikes Peak Shuttle Lot and 61st and Peña station parking when the Economy West Lot is full.

To find available spots near the airport, travelers can look at the lot information and availability on DIA's website, which shows which lots are open, walkable and daily fees.
DIA said any vehicles left in the work zones will be moved to a vehicle depository at Section 3 Rows Y-Z. Passengers retrieving their vehicle can call (303) 342-4650 for recovery instructions.
