East Liverpool police looking for man on bike
EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) — The East Liverpool Police Department is asking for help in identifying a wanted subject. According to a Facebook post from the department, a male with a beard on a dirt bike was driving dangerously with a small child on the front in the Avondale area. The post said officers tried to stop him, but the subject fled. Officers did not pursue a chase. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 330-385-1234 ext. 1. WKBN announces Male Student Athlete of the Year
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – East Liverpool senior Nicholas Aldrich was named the 2025 WKBN/WYTV Student Athlete of the Year on Thursday night. The award, along with a $1,000 college scholarship, was presented to Aldrich at the annual Student Athlete of the Year banquet at DiVieste's Banquet Center. Aldrich played four sports at East Liverpool, broke five school records in swimming (50m, 100m, 200m and 500m Freestyle along with the 100m Butterfly) and graduated as class Valedictorian. He also held leadership positions in the band, choir and theater. Aldrich served as troupe president and student director in theater. He was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society in band, and served as delegate at the HOBY Youth Leadership seminar. Aldrich was class president and a member of Outdoor Adventure Club, Booster Club, and Culture Club. He also served a president of both National Honor Society and French Club. He earned over 30 college credits during his high school career, and will study Aerospace Engineering and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University this fall. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. First female in East Liverpool Fire Department's history is sworn in
EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) — It was a historic day in Southern Columbiana County as the East Liverpool Fire Department promoted one firefighter and swore in another. Brittany Hill was sworn in as the department's first female firefighter in its 109-year history. This comes after the East Liverpool Police Department hired its first female officer in its 120-year history earlier this year. Additionally, Aaron Jones was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief. Additionally, Jones' promotion comes after the retirement of Assistant Chief Eric Croxall, who worked his last shift April 8. Croxall gave 35 years to the department. East Liverpool star signs to play college football
EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) – East Liverpool standout senior quarterback and safety Gavin Wright has signed with Edinboro University to continue his academic and athletic careers. Edinboro Football announced the signing on social media. The senior star played 12 games for the Potters in 2024 with a school-record 2,157 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. He also rushed for 690 yards and eight touchdowns last season. On defense, Wright tallied 85 tackles and three tackles for loss. He also created turnovers with one pick and one forced fumble. The East Liverpool dual-threat was a WKBN Big 22 Candidate in 2024. Wright also was a highlight machine making WKBN's Top 5 Plays of the Week multiple times. Edinboro Football is a Division II Program in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Last season the Fighting Scots had an overall record of (3-8) and (2-4) in conference play. East Liverpool downs Beaver Local to advance to OVAC title game
EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) – East Liverpool boys basketball down rivals Beaver Local 63-57 to secure a spot in the Class 4A Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Championship game Tuesday night. Watch above for extended highlights! Potter's Cohen Pease led East Liverpool in scoring with 15 points. Also, Nate Birch posted 14 points and D'shawn Kirby scored 10. Beaver Local junior Owen Hill scored his 1,000th career point and tallied a game-high 16 points in the loss. Hunter Warrick scored 13 and Luke Rettos recorded eight in the defeat. The two rival teams previously split the regular season series at 1-1. The Potters advance to a season record of (15-6). The Beavers fall to an overall record of (14-7).
