MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — Giving back to its community, that's how Ruff Ryders roll, as the Morgantown-based organization donated Easter Baskets to WVU Medicine Children's. On Friday, patients of WVU Medicine Children's Hospital received Easter baskets courtesy of Ruff Ryders and the University Town Center Walmart. This is the second year of Easter basket donations, with the organization donating 70 baskets last year. Baskets were filled with different interactive items for children including stuffed animals and coloring books. 12 News spoke with Ruff Ryders' prospect manager, Knight Vision, on why the organization chooses to contribute to the community in this way. Mon Medical Center hosts flag raising ceremony for Donate Life Month 'We love our motorcycles, we love our cars, we love our trucks and recreation, but the biggest thing is the family aspect, and it's not just having a family bond with one another, but our community is part of our family,' Vision said. 'We like to make sure that we step up and we plug in any holes and fill in any gaps that we can…whether it is helping those with special needs, with medical or finances, or hospitals or schools.' Ruff Ryders also volunteers with Stepping Stones, first responders, women and children's shelters, homeless shelters and other in need. Creating Easter Baskets for children in need
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A sporting goods store in Sioux Falls is helping hand out sweet treats to children in need at a local nonprofit organization. Easter is late on the calendar this spring, but Scheels is getting an early jump on its annual Easter Basket Drive. Minnehaha County Jail sees rise in violence 'Customers can come in, fill a tote here right at Scheels or take it out to the community and fill it there and then bring it back to us at Customer Service by the tenth,' Events Coordinator Cierra Von Bergen said. Von Bergen is asking the public to create Easter Baskets to be given to the kids at Children's Home Society. 'Waking up with an Easter Basket growing up was always so fun, so we wanted to bring that joy to these kids that morning,' Von Bergen said. 'These kids have the same reaction, just pure joy,' CHS Chief Philanthropy Officer Jon Mammenga said. 'At Children's Home, we're very focused on hope and healing and really I think if you can normalize things each and every day, you think about your own kids waking up, finding their Easter Baskets, we want to give that experience to kids at Children's Home as well,' Mammenga said. Scheels will host a party, complete with games and crafts, at Children's Home Society on Sunday the 13th, while the actual baskets will be handed out the following weekend. 'Obviously chocolate, candy, those are the things that they're looking for, little toys in there, things that just bring them joy I think is what we're looking for more than anything,' Mammenga said. They only ask you to limit your purchases to $25 to keep it fair for the kids. 'Toy cars, Barbies, some NeeDoh, or the slime, kids love to play with, chalk, coloring books and crayons, all those fun things,' Von Bergen said. Making Easter for the kids exactly that, fun. You can start filling Easter Baskets on Wednesday, and they must be returned to Scheels by Thursday, April 10. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Easter prep with ABC 50: DIY dyeing for potatoes and marshmallow alternatives
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Easter is April 20 this year and everyone is making preparations. Making Easter Baskets, raiding the chocolate aisle and preparing a delicious ham or lamb meal for the family. Kids are also busy getting ready; usually around this time, they would be dyeing eggs. However, with the cost of eggs going through the roof, many families may be looking for dyeing alternatives… North Country Easter Guide Potatoes and marshmallows are the 2 main alternatives being put forth. Both are relatively easy to dye and can be cooked and eaten afterwards to avoid any waste. For both, you're going to want to do the same thing you do to dye eggs: take ½ cup of boiling water and mix it with 1 teaspoon of vinegar and add 10-20 drops of food coloring. Here is where there is going to be a slight difference: the potatoes will need to spend some extra time in the dye than the marshmallows. It is advised that you use baby delicious white or Yukon gold potatoes and jumbo marshmallows. Salmon Run Mall hops with the Easter Bunny starting April 4 ABC 50 actually visited the Flower Memorial Library on April 1, to show how to dye marshmallows. You can see all the fun in the video above. We also would like to say a big thank you to the library for letting us host this fantastically fun activity in their Community Room! ABC 50 also showed the kids how to dye their marshmallows with Kool-Aid. Which is very simple, and to do it at home, you simply need to dip a marshmallow into a bowl of water, take it out and shake off any excess water. Then roll the marshmallow in your choice of Kool-aid, be sure to let it dry for a few hours, then enjoy! Egg prices continue to hit records as Easter and Passover approach, but some relief may be coming With prices soaring, it's important to take time and enjoy the things that bring us joy. Happy Easter from all of us at ABC 50 & InformNNY! Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
