Create Account Strauss, an emergency care doctor, said in his maiden speech to fellow MPs that 'the zenith of all this top-down control came during the pandemic. The members opposite went full communism. 'They locked Canadians down in their homes, ruined weddings, funerals, Easters, proms and Christmases, closed the borders, kept mothers from children and brothers from sisters, deprived the House of its ancient rights, spent $600 billion of taxpayer money with no budget and doubled our national debt to pay healthy 16-year-olds to sit in their basement,' said the MP for Kitchener South-Hespeler. When the pandemic started, Strauss was an assistant professor at Queen's University's medical faculty. After he was dismissed, he filed a $600,000 claim against the university, alleging he was fired because he was critical of COVID mandates. 'At Queen's University where I taught, Jane Philpott herself, one of the only two cabinet ministers to speak truth to Justin Trudeau's power, informed me in her dean's office that 'the reason the administration had to harass me was that I criticized the government,'' he told the Commons. 'That is a direct quote.' During the pandemic, Strauss was appointed acting medical officer of health in Haldimand-Norfolk, Ont., and said he tried to save as many lives as possible without resorting to COVID mandates. 'I'm a pet nutritionist - here's what your dog's poop says about their health'
Picking up after your dog isn't a pleasant job but it is worth inspecting what they have left behind for health reasons Owning a dog comes with so many joys. Watching them grow from a puppy into a full blown canine, bringing them on family holidays, hearing their first bark, and maybe even dressing them up for birthday, Christmases, or Easters. However, there are some aspects of ownership that aren't so glamorous. For most dog owners, although they might not like it, and it may even turn their stomach, scooping poop is simply part of the daily routine. And while many owners may not give a second thought to this rather unenjoyable task, experts say there is a lot you can find out about your dog's health just by taking a quick look at their stool. Veterinary specialists at Pure Pet Food are encouraging owners to take notice of any changes or abnormalities in their dog's stool before discarding it, as it could provide vital clues about their digestive health. "While you don't need to dig around in your dog's poop, knowing what's normal for your dog makes it easier to spot when something's off," Emma Passman, qualified pet nutritionist at Pure Pet Food, explained. "A change in their stool may be the first sign that their food isn't agreeing with them, or even that they are experiencing a health issue. "Since many dogs happily eat whatever is put in front of them, these symptoms can be the only clue that their diet is not agreeing with them and that a change is needed." With this in mind, and owners perhaps starting to pay more attention to their furry friend's sensitive stomach, Emma has shared four key signs when cleaning up after your dog that it might be time to shake up their diet. Shape and consistency "A healthy stool should be firm, sausage-shaped, and easy to pick up in one piece," Emma said. "If it's too soft, crumbly, or constantly changing from one day to the next, it could be a sign your pooch's gut isn't happy. "This kind of inconsistency is often linked to sensitive stomachs and may be triggered by rich, fatty or overly processed foods. Switching to a simpler, natural diet will help bring things back into balance." Colour "A dog's stool should typically be a deep brown," Emma pointed out. "But if it regularly appears pale brown, yellow, orange, or black, it could indicate an underlying issue." She warned: "Pale stools may suggest fat digestion problems, while black ones could point to internal bleeding. Yellow or greasy-looking waste might mean your dog's stomach isn't absorbing nutrients properly. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! "If you spot any of these changes, it's worth reviewing their diet and consulting a vet." Strong smells "All dog poo has a scent, but a dramatic change in odour, especially if it's sharp or sour, can mean something in your dog's diet isn't sitting well with them," Emma went on to point out. "Strong odours may be caused by poor-quality ingredients or excess fat in their meals. Choosing a food made with fresh, natural ingredients will reduce digestive strain and lead to less offensive clean-ups." Slime or mucus Occasionally, you may notice mucus or a shiny coating on your dog's stool. "This can be a sign of digestive tract inflammation, often caused by food intolerances or infections," Emma said. "While not always a serious concern, repeated occurrences should be noted. "A hypoallergenic diet may help calm the irritation and improve your dog's gut health."

Report says 641 adults were in emergency accommodation in Cork at the end of March
The Monthly Homelessness Report for March 2025, issued by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, confirmed that 641 adults were in emergency accommodation across the boundaries of Cork City Council and Cork County Council at the end of March. A total of 204 children were in such accommodation across Cork and Kerry at this time. Sinn Féin TD for Cork North Central, Thomas Gould, has called on the government to implement an emergency response to battle homelessness in Cork. 'The release of these figures every month should be a stain on government parties. They should be ashamed to see record homelessness in Cork city and across this state again and again. Instead, they are pushing forward with the same failed policies and cruel actions,' Deputy Gould said. 'How many children must become homeless before this government admits that this is an emergency? How many more families in Cork must fit everything they own into a hotel room before this government admits they have failed? 'I am sick and tired of broken promises and empty rhetoric. What we need now is a radical change in housing policy. Anything else is failing the children of Ireland.' The Quarter Progress Report, also released by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, cited that five families in Cork and Kerry spent over two years in emergency accommodation. Deputy Gould said 'trauma' will impact these families for the rest of their lives. 'What is extremely worrying is that the Quarterly Progress Report shows that exits from homelessness were down on last year and that five families in Cork and Kerry have now spent more than two years in emergency accommodation,' he said. 'These are children growing up in hotels – they have spent two birthdays, two Christmases and now two Easters without a home of their own. The trauma of this will stay with them for the rest of their lives.'

"An attack so violent...": Trump slams Biden, critics in fiery Easter message
Washington, D.C.: US President Donald Trump sparked a fresh controversy on Easter Sunday, mixing holiday greetings with a fiery political tirade. In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump criticised former President Joe Biden, left-wing figures, judges, and law enforcement officials, accusing them of enabling crime and weakening the nation's security. "Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well-known MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back into our Country," Trump wrote. "Happy Easter also to the WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Judges and Law Enforcement Officials who are allowing this sinister attack on our Nation to continue, an attack so violent that it will never be forgotten!" He slammed Biden, calling him "sleepy Joe," and accused him of deliberately allowing criminals to flood into the US through what he described as a disastrous immigration policy. "Sleepy Joe Biden purposefully allowed Millions of CRIMINALS to enter our Country, totally unvetted and unchecked, through an Open Borders Policy that will go down in history as the single most calamitous act ever perpetrated upon America," Trump claimed. "He was, by far, our WORST and most Incompetent President, a man who had absolutely no idea what he was doing -- But to him, and to the person that ran and manipulated the Auto Pen (perhaps our REAL President!), and to all of the people who CHEATED in the 2020 Presidential Election in order to get this highly destructive Moron Elected, I wish you, with great love, sincerity, and affection, a very Happy Easter!!!" In a follow-up post, the US President struck a more traditional note, stating: "Melania and I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter! Whether you are heading out to Church or, watching Service from home, may this day be full of Peace and Joy for all who celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. HE IS RISEN!!" Earlier, during an Easter prayer service, Trump had said, "There is so much to celebrate this Easter; I hope this will be one of the greatest Easters ever because we have something going that I don't think this country has seen in a hundred years." "With God's help, we can overcome any challenge, triumph over every evil, and restore the spirit of faith in the United States for generations to come. We have a very simple slogan- Make America Great Again, and that's exactly what we are doing," he said.
