Mid-Michigan man killed in two-vehicle crash near Lansing
Suspected shooter captured in Minnesota; death investigation in Bedford Township; and more top stori Suspected shooter captured in Minnesota; death investigation in Bedford Township; and more top stori A man was killed as a result of a two-vehicle crash Sunday near Lansing, the Michigan State Police reported. The crash happened about noon at the intersection of M-50 and Mulliken Road in Eaton County's Chester Township, involving a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox and a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica. Troopers from the Lansing post reported a 30-year-old woman from Mulliken was driving the Chevrolet southbound on Mulliken Road, but disregarded the stop sign and struck the Chrysler that was traveling northwest on M-50. The Chrysler driver was a 43-year-old Portland woman. Both drivers were transported to University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Hospital in Charlotte to be treated for minor injuries. But a passenger in the Chrysler, a 29-year-old man from Sunfield, was ejected from the minivan. He was taken to U-M Charlotte, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is continuing. State police ask that anyone who has information relating to the crash call the Lansing post at 517-322-1907.

Thousands still without power following severe thunderstorm
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — More than 100,000 people across Michigan are still without power after a severe thunderstorm, which spawned several tornadoes, struck Thursday night. As of 1:00 p.m. on May 17, the Consumers Energy Outage Map that more than 117,000 customers statewide are affected by power outages. The Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) that more than 6,000 customers are still affected by the power outage. NWS confirms EF1 tornado in Eaton County The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down in Eaton County and two EF0s hit near Battle Creek during the storm. Missing Michigan man's remains found in Eaton County, 4 arrested in suspected homicide

Gregory Brian Pennington, 42, of Nashville, Michigan, was reported missing on Dec. 12, 2024, after his vehicle was found abandoned in the 4000 block of Michigan Road on Dec. 11. The Eaton County Sheriff's Office says Pennington's remains were found in Chester Township on April 29. Officials said in December that Pennington was last seen on Nov. 14 in the Vermontville area. Pennington's death is being investigated as an apparent homicide. Four suspects are currently in custody and awaiting charges by the Eaton County Prosecutor's Office. The names of the suspects are being withheld until they are arraigned. The cause of Pennington's death has not been released.
