Agoda Celebrates Two Decades of Bridging the World Through Travel with Birthday Discounts
MANILA, Philippines, May 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital travel platform Agoda is celebrating its 20th birthday this week, marking two decades of helping travelers see the world for less. To mark the occasion, Agoda is running a sales campaign with global discounts of up to 70% on May 21st. Founded in 2005 with its headquarters in Singapore, Agoda has grown into a global travel marketplace and a prominent tech employer in APAC. Over the years, Agoda has expanded its offerings from hotels in Southeast Asia to a global digital platform with over 5 million hotels and holiday properties, more than 130,000 flight routes, and over 360,000 activities and experiences. Over the last twenty years, Agoda developed a search experience that helps travelers find and book their dream trip on Agoda with ease and at the best available rates. To create this experience: Agoda records over 2 billion user interactions daily. These can be anything from a click or a scroll to selecting a filter option to find the perfect stay. Agoda handles 1 trillion price checks per day to find the best possible deals in accommodation, flights, and activities for its customers. Agoda runs over a thousand experiments daily to improve the user experience. The Agoda platform processes 12 petabytes (PB) of data each month – that's 12,000,000,000,000,000 bytes of storage per year. The Agoda mobile app has been downloaded more than 87 million times – making it the most downloaded OTA app in APAC outside of China according to Agoda CEO Omri Morgenshtern shared: "As we celebrate Agoda's 20th Birthday, we can proudly say that Agoda has truly become one of Asia Pacific's preferred travel marketplaces. Agoda's success comes from building a true tech company at scale. A piece of Silicon Valley in APAC. It's a story of relentless focus on pricing and a deep understanding of Asian cultures." Agoda's focus on innovation will continue to play a pivotal role in the company's future success, believes Morgenshtern. "There is growing demand among customers for more personalized experiences when booking travel. Understanding which properties and flights are perfect for which travelers is what we do well at Agoda, and innovative technologies like gen AI allow us to evolve our travel booking experience even further. We're in great shape to continue bridging the world through travel for the next 20 years." Building on its commitment to localization, Agoda's deep ties to the markets it serves extend beyond technology and travel. Through initiatives like the Eco Deals campaign, which has raised over USD 1.3 million for the World Wide Fund for Nature, technology workshops for students in Thailand to develop workplace skills, and over 17,000 volunteer hours contributed by Agodans to charitable causes globally, the company continues to give back, particularly in the APAC region, while fostering meaningful connections worldwide.
