Through Administrative Order No. 37, Marcos said the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (SAPIEA) shall serve as a member of the ED Council, and shall sit and represent the Office of the President, including the Executive Secretary, in the following Committees: (a) Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC); (b) Investment Coordination Committee (ICC); (c) Infrastructure Committee (InfraCom); and (d) Social Development Committee (SDC).
Further, the SAPIEA is also designated as chairperson of EDCom, with the secretaries of Department of Economic Planning and Development (DEPDev) and the Department of Finance (DOF) as vice chairpersons thereof.
Marcos said the ED Council, formerly known as the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board, needs to be reorganized to ensure continuity in the integration, coordination, and implementation of various socioeconomic policies and programs of the government.
