Collapsed man saved from rolling into reservoir

A man who suffered a medical episode while on a walk near a reservoir had to be saved from falling into the water. The man had been walking with friends near Ladybower Dam, near Bamford, Derbyshire, at about 14:45 GMT on Monday when he collapsed, said Edale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT). One of his companions managed to stop him from rolling down the bank towards the reservoir. Emergency services were called in to carry out a rescue. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Derbyshire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and the MRT attended the scene, with fire crews able to reach the casualty and help them back up the bankside to safety. A spokesperson for Edale EMT said it was an "efficient multi-agency response" which led to a "speedy conclusion". "Fortunately, there were no injuries sustained by the casualty or friend, and a team doctor passed them both fit to return to the car park in a Severn Trent Ranger service vehicle for their return journey home."
