Wellington guitarist and composer to release new album next month
A Somerset guitarist and composer has announced that he will be releasing a new album next month.
Wellington-based Jon Maybey's new album, Time Will Tell, will be available on vinyl and CD and as a download from Friday, August 1.
The collection of songs "captures the spirit of Celtic folk-rock with traditional tunes, acoustic interludes, and intricate arrangements."
The 11 tracks are mostly instrumental, but there are some guest vocals by Rosie Eade and a single, Come to Me, which was released last December.
Jon said: "I wanted to work with a band in a studio rather than on a stage, and I'm very happy with the outcome.
"It has a very human feel, which is refreshing, given all the electronic music that is dominating the landscape."
He added: "I make enjoyable folk music to lift the soul and move the feet!"
Time Will Tell, which will be available to purchase at is a departure from Jon's multi-genre live-looping solo music act.
Mainly a guitarist, Jon also plays mandolin, bass, and percussion.
His Wellington recording studio, where he writes and produces music, is solar-powered.
Previous to his two solo albums releases, he worked with electro-folk band Elephant Talk and Grammy Award-winning singer Eddie Reader.
He has toured throughout Europe and the UK and written music for theatre, dance, and circus productions.
He is currently performing solo using a loop-station to fuse folk with other genres of music, including rock, reggae, and blues.
