Catholic Central TE commits to Wisconsin over Michigan State, Stanford, others

Michigan State football currently possesses two tight end commitments in their 2026 recruiting class in Joey Caudill and Eddie Whiting. The Spartans staff was going to make room for a third, though, if in-state product Jack Janda wanted to join the MSU program. That will no longer be the case, and Janda's official visit for later in the month has been canceled, now that the Novi (MI) Catholic Central product has committed to Wisconsin. The Shamrocks standout was slated to officially visit Michigan State on June 20, while also slated to visit Stanford, but the Badgers did enough on his first visit of the season to gain the services of the 6-foot-6, 245 pound tight end. Spartans commit, 3-star TE Eddie Whiting reaffirms MSU commitment following official visit

Spartans commit, 3-star TE Eddie Whiting reaffirms MSU commitment following official visit Locked In: #MichiganState TE commit Eddie Whiting posted his official visit pics with the song choice of Drake's 'Do Not Disturb.' Alabama, Michigan, Florida & several others offered, visited & pursued him before he committed to the Spartans in early February. — Justin Thind (@JustinThind) June 1, 2025 One of the Spartans' top commits in the 2026 class reaffirmed his commitment to Michigan State following his official visit this weekend. Spartans commit Eddie Whiting of Sioux Falls, S.D. posted a clear message following his official visit to Michigan State this weekend: "Do Not Disturb." The three-star tight end prospect posted pictures of his official visit to Michigan State this weekend, and with the photos included the song "Do Not Disturb" from Drake. The post from Whiting can be seen below -- courtesy of 247Sports' Justin Thind: Whiting is a high-end three-star tight end in the 2026 class. He was once listed as a four-star prospect but his recruiting rating has recently slipped slightly to 88. Whiting ranks as the No. 28 tight end in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 2 player from South Dakota and No. 565 overall prospect in the class. Michigan State landed Whiting's commitment in February over a number of other big-time programs. He holds offers from nearly 20 schools, with some of those coming from power programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin. Retaining Whiting's commitment is a big deal for the Spartans as he is currently one of their highest-rated commits in the 2026 class. There is still plenty of time left in the recruiting cycle for things to change, of course, but this is a great sign for head coach Jonathan Smith and his staff.
