Charity match success as Powys football legend remembered
LLANRHAEADR Football Club stepped up their pre-season with a 3-1 win at MMP Central Wales League North side Dyffryn Banw on Friday night.
Dan Kelly and Huw France were among the scorers as the Ardal North East League side lifted the Edgar Jones Memorial Trophy.
The match is played annually in memory of long-serving and much-missed Montgomeryshire League official and former Llanrhaeadr player Edgar Jones who passed away in 2008.
Mr Jones served as chairman for Llansantffraid Football Club for more than two decades and instrumental in the club's rise from amateur league to Welsh football giants.

A Llanrhaeadr FC spokesman said: 'A big thank you to Banw for hosting the game. Lots of money raised for the British Heart Foundation, too. Good luck to Banw for the season ahead.'
A Banw spokesman added: 'Thanks to Llanrhaeadr Football Club and having the opportunity to play in the Edgar Jones Trophy.
'Thank you to those who donated raffle prizes, Cwpan Pinc for the free sausage rolls and thanks to Greg and Helen for supplying tea and coffee.
'Thank you to the members behind the club who put work in to get each game played.
'Well done as well on the £500 raised for the British Heart Foundation.'
