Edits Gets Improved Music Discovery, Improved Keyframe Editing and More

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. The updates keep on coming for Meta's video editing app 'Edits,' with the tool getting three new features to help creators customize and maximize their video content. First off, Edits is getting a new royalty-free music discovery option, which will make it easier to find music that you can use (without losing monetization) to accompany your clips. As you can see in this example, the new listing is being added to the existing music discovery element, with creators now able to switch over to the 'Royalty free' tab to select from a listing of tracks that they can use without licensing. Which will save you headaches if you want to promote your posts, as you won't have to re-create them without commercial music. Edits is also adding a new keyframe editing feature for more precise editing. As you can see in these example screens, the updated keyframe editing display will make it easier to apply stickers, text and cutouts with precision, providing more creative options within your process. Edits added keyframe editing last month, which enables you to hone in on more specific elements in video playback. The updated keyframe editing options are being rolled out on iOS only at this stage. And finally, Edits is getting another 10 new voice effects, so you can make yourself sound like a ghost, a robot, and more. Edits also expanded its voice effects back in May as well, with these new options giving you more creative considerations for your video clips. It's been pretty interesting to see how Edits continues to add more features and options, which Meta did pledge to do at launch. Though social apps claim a lot of things when they first release a product, so the fact that Meta has followed through on this, and released weekly feature updates for the app, is significant. Of course, video is the best-performing content type across both Facebook and Instagram, so it makes sense for Meta to encourage more video posting where it can. And definitely, Edits will help in this respect, with a growing array of creative options that can help more people create interesting, engaging video content. These updates are available in the latest version of the Edits app. Recommended Reading Instagram Adds New Views Insights To Guide Creative Performance Sign in to access your portfolio

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. The updates just keep on coming for Instagram's new video editing app 'Edits,' with this latest round of improvements including expanded performance insights, improved audio editing, and refined sharing options from the app. First off, Edits is getting more data on Reels performance to help you optimize your content approach. As you can see in this example, now, you can access more info on accounts reached, while you can also filter your Reels listing by likes, comments, and/or saves, That'll make it easier to measure the specific performance elements of each Reel, and understand what's resonating for your goals. Edits also now has a new way to reduce unwanted noise in your clips, and enhance voices in your Reels to make them stand-out. As you can see in this example, you'll now have new audio balance options via simple sliders, which will enable you to customize audio playback, and improve the presentation of your content. Finally, you can now also more easily share your Edits creations to more places via an improved sharing UI. A simplified sharing UI, with Meta's apps highlighted as the key destinations, though other platforms are available within your various options. In addition to this, you'll also now be able to choose which exports you want to download, which could help you save data space on your device. These are some handy updates, which go along with the weekly tweaks and changes that Meta's added to the app since its launch back in April. And it's quickly becoming a must-have tool for all social media creators, providing a range of handy editing and refinement options to optimize your video content. Which is the best performing content type, across all social media apps, so if you're not familiar with Edits yet, and you're not creating video content, it could be best to make a move to change that. Edits Gets More Features To Help Manage Video Projects

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. The updates keep coming for Meta's new 'Edits' video editing app, though last week's round of updates was more about managing projects than creating them. Late last week, IG announced a new round of features for the 'Ideas' tab in the app, which are designed to help creators keep track of their inspirations for future projects. As per Instagram: 'We've rolled out new features on the Ideas tab in edits, including the ability to save audio within Ideas, leave sticky notes on audios you want to create with, mark stickies as done, and filter stickies by status (e.g. 'to-do', done, or all) or sort by last edited, date created, or color.' So, as noted, these are more about organization than creation, but they could still be some handy updates either way. The first element will make it easier to mark stickies as done, which adds strikethrough text on the label display. That could help in your management of editing tasks, ensuring that you cover off on all the key elements. Stickies filters meanwhile will make it easier to stay on top of all of your ideas and projects: And finally, there's the capacity to mark audios with sticky notes: So now, when you hear a track that you really want to create with, you can tag it with a note in Edits, so you can come back to it later. These are handy updates for Edits' management elements, which will make it easier to keep tabs on your various creative projects. And with more features coming to Edits every week, it's fast becoming a must-have tool for all creators, of all kinds, increasing your creative capacity, with a focus on short video clips. The latest Edits updates are now available in the most recent version of the app. Recommended Reading Instagram Provides Tips on How To Maximize Content Recommendations Sign in to access your portfolio

A guide to using Edits, Meta's new CapCut rival for short-form video editing

Meta recently released a new video editing app for creators called Edits. The new app is designed to rival ByteDance's CapCut, a popular short-form video-editing app used by many creators. Meta first shared that it was working on Edits back in January after ByteDance-owned CapCut was removed from U.S. app stores when the TikTok ban momentarily went into effect. Although the app has since come back online and is available to download, TikTok's future in the U.S. remains uncertain, so Meta is ready to capitalize on CapCut's possible absence in the future with its new Edits app. We've created this guide to walk you through the app and the different features it offers, and we provide an overview of how it compares to CapCut. Edits is available to download on both iOS and Android. Once you download the app and open it, you will be asked to log in with your Instagram account. From there you will see five main tabs: Ideas, Inspiration, Projects, Record, and Insights. The Ideas tab offers creators a space to jot down ideas for new videos and save reels to a collection, and the Inspiration tab features a hub for discovering trending audios and other popular reels. The Projects tab is where creators can store and revisit the videos they currently have in progress. This tab is also where creators can upload videos from their phone's camera roll. The Record tab lets creators start filming video content right within Edits. Lastly, the Insights tab gives creators an overview of how their content is performing by surfacing metrics like views, reach, and follower counts. Green screen: Replace and edit the background of your videos with one tap. Timeline: Precisely arrange and adjust clips. Captions: Add automatic captions to your videos in multiple languages. Audio library: Add music from Instagram's library to your videos. Cutouts: Isolate specific objects with precision tracking. Animate: Turn static images into videos using AI. Apply all: Apply filters, effects, transitions, and adjustments to all of your clips at once. Timeline frame rate selector: Convert your video to the frame rate you want in order to enhance playback smoothness. Alignment guides: Ensure viewers can see the important parts of your video when posted and accurately position text, emoji, or other elements. Beat markers: Add auto-detected beat markers to help you align clips, text, and overlays with audio when editing. Filters: Choose from 30 different filter options to add a unique look to your videos. Transitions: Choose from 30 different transitions to connect different video clips in a seamless way. Teleprompter: Follow your written script while recording. Restyle: Use AI to change the look and style of your video with a library of presets. Keyframes: Animate the position, rotation, and scale of clips. While both Edits and CapCut are great options for editing short-form videos, there are some differences between the two services. CapCut offers more robust editing options, including AI features, than Edits does. Of course, this can be expected since Edits is a lot newer than CapCut. Meta will likely continue to build out Edits over the next months and years, so we can expect to see more advanced functionality in the future. It's also worth noting that CapCut has a more extensive music library compared to Edits. Another difference is the fact that Edits currently doesn't have a subscription offering (for now), but CapCut does. While CapCut offers a free version, some of its advanced tools are locked behind a paid subscription. Edits is free to use, but this will likely change in the future, as Instagram head Adam Mosseri has stated that later versions of Edits may include paid features. In addition, while CapCut is available on the web, Edits is mobile-only. However, this could change in the future. Update: This story originally ran in May and is updated regularly with new information.

The app now includes more than 30 text effects, such as Fisheye, Arch, Cube, and more, to make the video look more eye-catching and attention-grabbing. Voice enhance: If your video content is heavily based on voice-over audio, then this tool will come in really handy to creators and video editors.
