Asanele Velebayi's new shirt number at Kaizer Chiefs revealed
Kaizer Chiefs have issued a shirt number that will be worn by their newest signing Asanele Velebayi this season. On Tuesday, Velebayi became Amakhosi's seventh signing of the current transfer window, joining them on a free transfer. This followed the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (PSL DRC) ruling that declared him a free agent. Velebayi was previously on the books of Cape Town Spurs who took the player to the PSL DRC, claiming he still belonged to them. Now, Velebayi was unveiled by Chiefs on Tuesday, and he was handed the No.17 jersey. The shirt number was used by Edson Castillo over the past two seasons, but it became popular when George Lebese wore it with pride during his time with Chiefs.
